Ode to RBL – Recycle, Bikini Bottom & Starfish-Patrick
Okay, so maybe this isn’t an ode to anything but I do love a good Rescue Beauty Lounge (RBL) nail polish. I have a wishlist a mile long for all the colors I want to buy from Ji’s killer collections, but for now I will show you the three that I do own.
I love the fact that the creator, Ji Baek, is so interactive with her fan base. You can regularly find her chatting on the Rescue Beauty facebook page, or keeping everyone updated on all things RBL through her blog. It’s nice to see polish creators being so involved with their customers.
Recycle is a highly pigmented forest green creme, and probably my favorite green that I own. With a steady hand this would be a 1-coat wonder, I had to use 2 coats.
I love, love, LOVE Bikini Bottom. This is 4 coats. I know it seems like a lot, but Bikini Bottom is meant to be worn sheer. I just choose not to wear it that way and I layer the heck out of it. From the moment I saw swatches of this soft baby blue jelly I knew I had to have it. At the time it was sold out, but the lovely Ji held one of her “Bring It Back” (BiB) voting polls and this one was one of the three colors chosen by the public to be recreated and sold in her online store. I pretty much stalked the website until the day it was re-released.
Starfish-Patrick is gorgeous peachy coral jelly, again I used 4 coats to reach the opacity I preferred. If you haven’t noticed a pattern yet, this and Bikini Bottom are part of the RBL Spongebob Collection that was released for Fall 2008. I still need to swipe Square Pants before it sells out and my collection will be complete! *insert maniacal laughter*
I am a Rescue Beauty believer! Ji puts every RBL polish through months of quality control testing before she is satisfied enough to release it to the public. The RBL line may be on the expensive side for some, but the quality of their products and variety of color choices is totally worth it for me.
Starfish-Patrick and Recycle are not currently available, but Ji does occasionally hold “Bring It Back” voting sessions to create new batches of her sold out polishes. Bikini Bottom (one of the recently BiB winners) and other great colors are available for $18 – $20 each online at RescueBeauty.com.
