OPI Mermaid’s Tears & Silver Shatter – Review
It’s been a while since my last post, life has been hectic! I took these photos this past Saturday but I’m in the middle of an 11 day stretch at work, so the thought of editing photos was the last thing on my mind for quite some time.
I’m just going to dub the rest of this week as ‘OPI Week’ because I have quite a few swatches to share with you all. I don’t have a lot of OPI products but this week I’m going to show you everything of theirs that I own. I’ll start with the two I snagged from the Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides Collection.
All swatches shown are with Seche Vite top coat and CND Sticky base coat.
Mermaid’s Tears is a pretty sea-foam green creme color. The formula was a little goopy but it’s nothing a few drops of nail polish thinner (NOT REMOVER) can’t fix. I applied 3 coats but I probably could have gotten away with 2 coats.
Ah, Silver Shatter. My former problem child that was responsible for my crackle gradient experiment. I finally got this polish to work for me. I’m still not fully sure what I did wrong the first time but I seem to have corrected it somehow. What you see here is 1 coat of Silver Shatter over 2 coats of White On by Sally Hansen.
Here’s a close-up of Silver Shatter’s crackle effect, I like the pattern of this one a lot.
Initially I had no interest in anything from the Stranger Tides collection, but I finally caved while purchasing some polishes from the OPI Texas Collection. I saw the display with Mermaid’s Tears and the Silver shatter and my resolve crumbled. I’m glad I changed my mind because I love the pale sea-green color of Mermaid’s Tears against my skin tone and the Silver Shatter makes a great addition to my growing crackle collection.
Mermaid’s Tears and Silver Shatter by OPI retail for around $8.50 and can be purchased at spas and salons nationwide (JCPenny, Dillards, etc.) . Online shoppers can buy OPI polishes through BrightonBeautySupply, com
