OPI Texas CollectionOPI Texas Collection

Hi Everyone!

I think you all are starting to notice how much I love jelly finish polishes so it probably comes as no surprise when I say these are my favorites by OPI!

JCPenny was having a great Buy One, Get One 50% Off sale and I couldn’t resist the urge to get all of the sorbet polishes from the 2011 OPI Texas Collection.

If you’re wondering, “sorbet” is just OPI’s way of saying “jelly” finish. It’s the same damn thing. ;-)

All swatches today are with Seche Vite top coat and CND Sticky base coat.

Guy Meets Gal-Veston
Guy Meets Gal-Veston

Guy Meets Gal-Veston is a pinkish-coral color. I used 4 coats of polish since I like build up my jellies quite a bit.

Guy Meets Gal-Veston

On my pointer finger I used a white base and 3 coats of polish, on my index finger I just used 4 coats of Guy Meets Gal-Veston. The white base color makes the polish really pop. So this is definitely something you could do if you want a brighter final look.

Too Hot Pink To Hold ‘Em
Too Hot Pink To Hold 'Em

Too Hot Pink To Hold ‘Em was definitely the most pigmented one out of the sorbet collection. I’d describe this one as a hot pink with a hint of red. I could have gotten away with 3 coats but I ended up doing 4 coats for consistency. There were a few extra long bristles on the brush for this one but it seemed to be a fluke since all the other brushes were perfect.

Big Hair… Big Nails
Big Hair... Big Nails

Big Hair… Big Nails is a very pretty reddish-orange/coral color. Again, I used 4 coats for this one.

Do You Think I’m Tex-Y?
Do You Think I'm Tex-y?

Do You Think I’m Tex-Y is nice raspberry red color. I found this one to be the sheerest of the sorbets, showing the most VNL even after 4 coats.

Y’All Come Back Ya Hear?
Y'all Come Back Ya Hear?

I love, love, LOVE this color! This amazing tangerine orange jelly is the reason I started lemming after the Texas Sorbets in the first place, and it did not disappoint me. The color reminds me of a creamsicle, one of my favorite frozen summertime desserts. :-D I used 4 coats for this one.

Houston We Have A Purple
Houston We Have A Purple

In the bottle Houston We Have A Purple initially reminded me of Overexposed In South Beach without the shimmer. But once I had it on my nails I could tell immediately that they were different. Houston We Have A Purple is more of a reddish-purple when compared to the latter.

Left: Houston We Have A Purple (4 coats)
Right: Overexposed In South Beach (2 coats)

Final Thoughts:

What can I say? I’m a sucker for these sorbets! Even though it’s just OPI’s fancy way of saying ‘jelly’, the colors in this collection really do remind me of the frozen dessert that shares its name. A few of the colors in this collection are quite similar, so if I had to pick “Must Haves” it would be Y’All Come Back Ya Hear?, Big Hair… Big Nails and Too Hot Pink To Hold ‘Em.
