Illamasqua: Raindrops Swatches & Review
I hope everyone had a great weekend! Mine was pretty fun and busy, I’m actually still pretty tired from it all! Today I have Raindrops by Illamasqua to show you. This polish was released as one of three winners of the Nail Varnish Competition that was held last year by Illamasqua. This gave polish fans across the world the chance to create their perfect shade of nail polish!
All swatches show below are done with Seche Vite top coat and Sally Hansen Nail Quencher base coat.
Raindrops is a sheer light grey jelly polish that is filled with irregular silver flecks. I found the application on this one to be a bit streaky with the first coat but it eventually evened out. This is three medium coats.
Here you can seen some cuticle oil I didn’t rub in completely, haha! Looking past that, you can view the lovely silver shimmer flecks that are present throughout the polish.
I really like this polish. Since it is a jelly I expected Raindrops to be more on the sheer side, requiring more layers to create the level of opacity that I prefer. If you layered this over a nice grey polish you would get results that are just as nice. You can view some layering options at Nihrida’s Blog. The creator of this polish stated that she was inspired by watching raindrops running down the window while riding on the monorail, you can view her blog post about the polish here. I can certainly say that Illamasqua did an excellent job of translating her idea into a nail polish, because I envision the same calm rainy day when I look at my nails.
Raindrops can be purchased exclusively through the Illamasqua website for £13.50 per 15ml/0.5 fl oz bottle. You can also find other Illamasqua polishes at Sephora stores nationwide and on Sephora.com for $14 per 0.5 fl oz bottle.
