NOTD: Sally Hansen Magical Nail Makeup – Mystical Mandarin
Today I’ve got an oldie but a goodie to share with you. This one is *deep breath* Sally Hansen Magical Nail Makeup in Mystical Mandarin. *phew!* I happened across this one while on one of my ‘Dusty Hunting’ trips. The bottle may be a little beat up but the polish inside of it is an absolute treasure.
I used Essie Fill The Gap as my base coat, no top coat.
I’m not sure why Sally Hansen decided to name this polish Mystical Mandarin, it’s definitely more of a dusty pink color to me. This polish does dry to a semi-matte finish so you may want to wear a top coat to keep it from chipping. In my past experiences, the dulling from applying top coat to holographics is quite minimal.
I used three coats to get rid of any bald patches that appeared. Though you could probably get away with two coats if you’re very careful with your application.
This is how Mystical Mandarin looks under low/shaded light. It’s rather dull in comparison to the great linear holographic effect that is displayed in the sun and under camera flash!
Mystical Mandarin is long discontinued, though I wish Sally Hansen would start making holos and duo/multi-chromatic polishes again because they did a really great job back in the day! You may still be able to find this little gem for a good price on ebay, however most of the listings I see for it lately are outrageously inflated.
