Mellow Yellow, Can't Cheat On Me, Choose Me!, Irreplaceable

Hello Everyone!

I hope you all are enjoying your Sunday. I’m a bit of a mess at the moment. I had to bring my cat Clarence (orange tabby) to the emergency vet yesterday and he has to stay there until Monday at the earliest. He has an obstruction of some kind and I won’t have an update on his condition until some time later today. So if everyone could keep him in your thoughts that would be fantastic. :-(

Anyway, today I have the rest of my Essence Colour & Go polishes that were sent to me by my friend Dana. I don’t know why my bottle picture is so murky looking, disregard that and scroll down to the lovely swatches. :-P

All swatches shown are done with Seche Vite top coat and SH Nail Quencher base coat.

Mellow Yellow

Mellow Yellow
Mellow Yellow
Mellow Yellow is your standard light, but not pastel, yellow creme. It applies a bit streaky like most yellows, and if you don’t wait a few minutes between coats you will get cuticle drag. This is three coats.

Irreplaceable

Irreplaceable
Irreplaceable
Irreplaceable is a beautiful nude beige that is packed solid with gold shimmer. This is three thin coats. Click the macro on this baby for a better look at the ridiculous amount of glitter in this one. :-) While the color is great, I’m not sure it’s doing too much for my skin tone. I did tan a lot this summer so I’ll have to try this one again once winter is in full effect.

Can’t Cheat On Me

Can't Cheat On Me (no flash)
I’m really not sure why this one is named Can’t Cheat On Me, there must be some story behind it. *shrugs* This one is a silver polish with an extremely subtle scattered holo effect. It’s so subtle, that you really can’t see it all that well in this photo.
Can't Cheat On Me (with camera flash)
You can see the holo particles a little better under camera flash, but it is still a very subtle effect. Clicking this picture will give you a better view. Can’t Cheat On Me was very sheer, this is three coats but you can still see a little VNL (visible nail line).

Choose Me!

Choose Me!
And here’s my favorite of the bunch, Choose Me!, a memorizing blue polish filled with green and gold shimmer. This one was also pretty sheer, at three coats you can still clearly see VNL.
Choose Me!
But doesn’t it look familiar? If you own Zoya Charla or OPI Catch Me In Your Net or Orly Halleys Comet… Then you know what I’m talking about. These three polishes are basically dead on dupes for Choose Me! Iris at Pimp My Nails has a comparison of Choose Me! and Charla, but search the web and you’ll quickly see that they all look the same. Choose Me! is by far the most inexpensive one to grab though I like the formula and opacity of Charla more.
Choose Me!
Click on this picture to get a shimmer overload! I just love the effect that this polish gives, it looks like I’m staring into the ocean. One important thing to note about Choose Me! or any of its dupes, they will ALL stain the crap out of your nails so take that as a warning. I used a super thick base coat when I swatched this and did not experience any staining. But I only wore it for a very short time. My friends who also have Choose Me! have not been so lucky, and I know from personal experience (and green nail beds) that Charla stains like crazy. :-P

Final Thoughts:

Overall I really like these little Essence Colour & Go polishes. They’re super inexpensive and the variety of colors is quite nice. Though each bottle is quite small they all have wide, normal sized brushes which make application quite easy. I do wish that I could find them outside of Ulta stores, since I don’t have one where I live I have to order online or rely on friends to send me goodies. :-)

Also, if anyone knows where I can find Essence Pool Party I will love you forever, I have been lemming after that color since the dawn of time. :-P

Purchase Info:

Essence Colour & Go polishes can be purchased at Ulta stores nationwide, and also on ulta.com. They retail at 99¢/ea for a .1 fl oz bottle.
