Cult Nails Hypnotic Collection – Part 1
I’m back to having nubbins again you guys. I’m a klutz and I expertly managed to snap off/break three nails on my right hand with record speed, so I had to file ‘em all down.
I’ve got another wonderful fall collection to share with you today. This time we’ve got the Cult Nails Hypnotic collection, which included two shimmers (In A Trance & Enigmatic), a creme (Awakening), and a layering glitter polish (Hypnotize Me). I took a boatload of pictures so I’ll be splitting this into three posts. Today I’m showing you Awakening by itself, along with Hypnotize Me layered on top of it.
I used Sally Hansen Nail Quencher for all swatches shown today. No top coat was used unless specified. Clicking each photo will enlarge it to its original size.
Awakening is a GORGEOUS blackened teal jellish creme. Application was decent, the formula was a little on the watery side. This is three thin coats, though I probably could have gotten away with two medium coats. This polish dries incredibly glossy, look at that picture again because I did NOT use a top coat! You can see my curtains in the reflection of this polish, ha! I can’t believe how shiny this is!
Hypnotize Me + Awakening
I layered one coat of Hypnotize Me over Awakening, and then I died. This layering combination is friggin’ amazing! It looks like my nails are glowing. I loved this one so much that I was downright sad that I had to take it off to continue swatching the rest of the collection, haha!
My only complaint about Hypnotize Me was the thickness. This polish was THICK, it was impossible to do a thin coat with it. But the glitter is pretty well saturated so one coat was enough to get excellent coverage, and it dried to the touch relatively fast. It’s pretty dull looking once it dries so you’ll definitely need a good thick top coat. I used Seche Vite and it brought it back to life for me. ^_^
Gratuitous macro shot. You. Need. To. Enlarge. This. Photo. Right meow!
I’ve yet to be disappointed by a Cult Nails polish (you can check out my other posts [HERE]) and these two are no exception to this rule. The glossy/squishy look of Awakening is to die for and I’m thinking it’ll be my go-to teal polish from this day forward. I love the glowy look of Hypnotize Me. It’s thick, but I really didn’t mind it because it saved me from having to do multiple layers. I’m confident that a polish thinner would de-goopify it for those who prefer thinner coats.
