Orly Fowl Play (swatches & review)
Happy Wednesday!
Eventually I get around to doing Pink Wednesday posts again, but I have sooooo many non-pink polishes to share with you so you’ll just have to humor me.
Today I’ve got a fantastic one to show you all. It’s called Fowl Play and it’s from Orly’s Birds of a Feather collection that was just released. When I first saw the bottle of this polish I knew it had to be mine. There is so much going on with this one, you’ll just have to see it to believe me.
Swatches shown are done with Sally Hansen Nail Quencher Hydrating base coat and Pro-FX Ultra Fast Dry top coat.
Fowl Play
Fowl Play looked amazing in the bottle and this baby does not disappoint when it’s on your nails! Now take a deep breath before you soak all this in: Fowl Play is a deep purple jelly filled with large irregular flakies that flash orange, yellow, green, and red. There’s also smaller glitter particles that flash blue/purple, AND there is silver micro-shimmer.

Mind. Blowing. Polish. Goodness. I’m thinking that this is the purple version of 212-Sephora. ![]()
Once again I ventured outside so you could see this glorious polish in direct sunlight. The blue and red/orange flakies really stand out in natural sunlight. The formula on Fowl Play was pretty good. It’s a jelly, so expect to layer up if you want to avoid VNL. I’m wearing three coats in these swatches.
Look at this macro. I mean… Tears of joy are coming down my face.

Final Thoughts:
Fowl Play is a MUST HAVE! The jelly formula was slightly goopy, but for the color payoff I can definitely overlook it. This polish also wears like iron. I’m testing out a new top coat (more on that soon
) and I’ve been wearing Fowl Play since last Thursday, there’s not a single chip in my polish and I barely have any tip wear!
Fowl Play is also extremely close to OPI’s Merry Midnight, a HTF polish from their 2009 LE Holiday Wishes collection . Carina from GildedNails does a fantastic comparison of the two. So if you’re having a hard time locating Merry Midnight then I suggest you nab Fowl Play before it disappears!
