Revlon Masquerade Collection: Devil’s Lure & Royal Cloak (swatches & review)
I hope you all had a great weekend! The boyfriend had an old friend and his wife up for a visit and they brought their little girl and she was so adorable! She got to play with my cats and she loved them. They were all really good around her too! I was a little worried as to how my brood would behave around a toddler, but they all passed with flying colors.
Today I’ve got two colors from the Revlon Masquerade collection, Devil’s Lure and Royal Cloak. There are quite a few other colors in this collection, but these two struck me as the most interesting.
Sally Hansen Nail Quencher base coat and Pro-FX Ultra Fast Dry top coat were used for these swatches.
Royal Cloak is a medium purple polish filled with silver shimmer and irregular silver flakies. This one was a pain in the butt to capture on my digital camera, the purple is a little deeper in real life.
I really liked this color a lot! It was fairly easy to apply and the polish is quite well pigmented. This is two coats.

Devil’s Lure is a beautiful vampy blackened wine red jelly, but this one comes with a hint of sparse silver micro-glitter. And when I say sparse, I mean S-P-A-R-S-E. You can barely even make it out in this picture or the one below unless you view the larger images. Even then it’s a bit tricky.
It took three coats to even this one out, which is to be expected since it’s a jelly finish. And thankfully it did not stain my fingers after removal, always a plus with darker colors like this.
And so you can see that I was telling the truth, I’ll leave this macro here to show that there is a smidgen of silver shimmer in this polish. Click the image for a closer look. Devil’s Lure looks gorgeous with the shimmer peeking through in the sunlight. Although the only person that will notice it is you.
Overall I’m pleased with these two colors. Revlon has seriously stepped up their game in the world of polish lately and I’ve been impressed. I’ve bought more Revlon polishes this summer alone than I’ve ever owned before in my entire life!
If I had to choose one color it’d definitely be Royal Cloak, it’s a gorgeous color that really needs to be seen in person to truly appreciate it. If you’re a huge fan of vampy reds then I’d say go ahead and pick up Devil’s Lure. While the shimmer is a nice touch, it’s so incredibly sparse that it might as well not even be there. I personally love it because I feel like it’s a hidden treat for myself, but not everyone will share my feelings.
Revlon polishes usually retail for anywhere between $4.49 – $5.99/ea for a .5 fl oz bottle. You can purchase them at any local drugstore or major retailer (Walgreens, CVS, Target, Wal-Mart, etc.) nationwide. I picked these two up at my local Walgreens.
