Welcome Back!

We’re a week into the 31 Day Challenge, and now it’s time for Metallic Nails! I had a bit of hard time coming up with ideas for this one. I didn’t want to do a regular manicure, but I didn’t want to stamp with my konad plates today either. I finally decided on doing a metallic “Ruffian” manicure. If you’re not sure what a Ruffian manicure is, Michèle from Lacquerized gives a brief explanation [HERE] on its origins and she also has a great tutorial (which I followed) on how to recreate the look. :-) I first started with one coat of Sally Hansen Chrome Nail Makeup in Crystal Chrome. I then layered two coats of Kleancolor Metallic Green over it and topped everything off with Seche Vite. Next time I think I’ll only use one layer of Metallic Green because it’s quite thick and it took a while to dry (though this means it might be a good polish for stamping… :-) ).

Remember to check out Cris and Sam’s blogs for their Day 8 Metallic Nails manicures.

Ruffian Manicure: Kleancolor – Metallic Green over SH Chrome Nail Makeup – Crystal Chrome

Day 8: Metallic Nails (Kleancolor Metallic Green & Sally Hansen Crystal Chrome)
Day 8: Metallic Nails (Kleancolor Metallic Green & Sally Hansen Crystal Chrome)
Kleancolor’s Metallic Green is an INTENSELY bright apple green metallic finish polish. I’m talking DayGlo bright. I could hardly get used to it all day and kept thinking of nuclear reactors whenever I glanced at my nails. :-P

Day 8: Metallic Nails (Kleancolor Metallic Green & Sally Hansen Crystal Chrome)
I honestly think this is the brightest polish I have in my entire collection. I can’t decide if I like the look of this color combination. I mean, I love metallic finish polishes… Maybe I just don’t like safety green bright metallic finish polishes. :-D

SH Chrome Nail Makeup – Crystal Chrome

Day 8: Metallic Nails (Kleancolor Metallic Green & Sally Hansen Crystal Chrome)
Here’s some bottle shots. I have one other SH Chrome polish (Opal Chrome) and it comes in one of these neat metallic bottles as well. Ah, how I miss the old days of SH effects polishes. Please come back soon!

And here’s one coat of Crystal Chrome by itself, no top coat.

So what do you all think of my metallic ruffian? Too bright? Too awesome? ;-) I like the look of ruffian manis, though next time I think I’ll layer a darker color on top of Crystal Chrome, maybe a matte blue or black. ^_^
