Wild Orchid, Rags to Riches, Lava Red

Hello!

My lovely roommate let me borrow three more of her Rimmel London Lasting Finish Pro polishes for swatching. This time we’ve got Wild Orchid, Rags To Riches, and Lava Red. If you read my previous review of Rimmel London Lasting Finish Pro polishes, you’ll remember how much I loved the brush. I’m happy report that my initial adoration was not a fluke. The brush on these three was just as flexible and once again I got full nail coverage with one swipe. :-)

I used Seche Vite top coat and Sally Hansen Nail Quencher base coat for all swatches shown today.

Wild Orchid

Wild Orchid is another one of your standard lavender cremes that are popping up this year. It has a great formula, this is two coats. This was also a pain in my ASS to capture on camera. :-P It was showing up way too blue, so I did have to edit the color on these two photos a bit in order to make them color accurate.

Rags To Riches

Marta from Chit Chat Nails mentioned this color in my last Rimmel London post and said that I’d love it. You were right Marta! Rags to Riches is a gorgeous apple green polish with a metallic finish. This one was on the sheer side, it took three coats to reach opacity.
Rags To Riches
Macro shot for ya, you can see that Rags to Riches hardly shows any brush strokes. :-)

Lava Red

And now we’re coming to my favorite of the bunch, Lava Red. As soon as I put this one on I was in love. I immediately had to jump on twitter to tell my fellow green and vampy polish lover, Nicole of Nightly Nails, all about this one. :-D Lava Red is a super sexy blackened garnet red filled with shimmer that positively glows! Great formula too, this is two coats. The base is actually a very deep brown-almost black-color but the red really pops under camera flash and direct sunlight.

Here’s a macro shot to show you the gorgeous copper shimmer and the deep brown/black base.

Now put this polish under camera flash (aka: fake sun) and it comes to life! Maximize these photos to really get a fantastic look at the shimmer. Lava Red is also my roommates favorite of the bunch and I can totally see why. I stopped swatching after I put this one on because I wanted to stare at this on my nails for a little bit longer. ;-)

And look at the shimmer now! Under the flash of my camera you get the copper shimmer and some pink shimmer comes out to play as well. How great is this?! :-D

Final Thoughts:

Whelp, three more great Rimmel London polishes under my belt. Once again, great finish, great brush, great colors! Lava Red is definitely the stand-out polish for me in this trio. If you have not tried this brand yet you should definitely get thyself to ye olde local store and buy a few to try out. At less than $5 a bottle what have you got to lose? :-)

Purchase Info:

Rimmel London Lasting Finish Pro polishes can be purchased at drugstores and larger retailers nationwide (Target, Walmart, CVS, Walgreens, etc.). Prices may vary, but I think the roomie paid $4.95 for these.
