Orly Rock Solid (swatches & review)
I’ve got another Mineral FX collection polish to share with you all today. This time we’re looking at swatches of Orly Rock Solid. The ever so lovely Dana picked this one up for me a bit ago and it’s been sitting alone in my Orly untrieds for at least a month. I just had to remedy this little problem so it could join its other polish friends.
I used Seche Vite Top Coat/SH Nail Quencher Base Coat for all swatches shown today.
Orly – Rock Solid
Orly Rock Solid is a gun-metal grey metallic polish filled with sparse holo glitter, the look reminds me of asphalt with gems sticking out of it. I know I lot of people were disappointed with this one because they felt that the holo glitter wasn’t prominent enough, but I like the subtlety of the whole look. Trust me, Rock Solid is even more gorgeous in person. ^_^
Here’s a photo with camera flash, I like that the glitter is visible in all light settings. I used 2 coats for the swatches shown here. And I also want to mention that Rock Solid is a top coat guzzler. I used two thick coats of Seche Vite with this polish. O_O
Here’s a macro shot for ya, the holo glitter (almost typed holy…) is stunning in this shot! Not enlarging this picture would be an injustice. I think this is honestly my favorite of the three Mineral FX polishes that I own. ♥
If you’re a fan of metallic polish and dark greys then I feel like Rock Solid would be worth a look. If you’re expecting something SUPER holographic then you might want to pass this one up in favor of more bling-worthy gun-metal grey/holo-glitter choices that are on the market right now (Wet n Wild Diamond In The Rough, Nails Inc. Sloane Square, etc).
