Review: My Picks From The Essie Spring 2012 Navigate Her Collection
6Morning Everyone!
Today I’ve got my picks from the Spring 2012 Essie Navigate Her Collection. As soon as I saw these polishes I knew I had to have them. I’ve featured my 3 picks here and there online but I realized that I hadn’t show you all true swatches of the collection. So just in case you missed the swatches on 9304834.3 other blogs by now, I’ll add mine to the mix.
Orange, It’s Obvious!

Orange, It’s Obvious! is a vivid tangerine orange creme and we’re in love. This is definitely one of the colors that made me fall in love with the Essie Spring 2012 collection.
This is the color orange. This is me. We’re married.
I used 2 coats here. Orange, It’s Obvious! is very pigmented. But it also stains, so double up on your base coat and be careful with removal if you don’t want ‘cheetos fingers‘.
Olé Caliente

Olé Caliente is a bright red coral creme that leans orange on my skintone. I love it! The name is perfect because it reminds me of red chilis and Sriracha hot sauce. I used 2 coats here, another super pigmented and easy formula. No staining with this one though. ^_^
Navigate Her

Navigate Her was the one that I NEEDED. Even if I couldn’t find the other two on my wishlist, owning Navigate Her was a necessity for me. This is the perfect non-pastel pistachio green creme that I was missing from my collection. I love it! The formula was thin and a little streaky, so 3 coats were necessary in order to level everything out. WORTH IT!
☻
Final Thoughts:
I positively love all 3 of my picks from the Navigate Her Collection. If you want to see the entire 6 polish set, you can check out great swatches by Ommorphia Beauty Bar, Scrangie, and The PolishAholic.
Purchase Info:
I found the Navigate Her Collection at my local Target store. They usually retail at $8.00 per .46 fl oz bottle of polish (I paid $7.49).

Review: Orly Feel The Vibe Collection Minis – Summer 2012
19Morning Everyone!
Happy Monday! Well, it’s happy for me because this girl has 4 nights off from her overnight job! Which means, hellooooooo Swatch-A-Thons and Ultra-Mega-Diablo III gaming sessions! What more could a girl ask for?
Today I’ve got 4 polishes from the Orly Feel The Vibe Collection to share with you all. I ended up snagging the mini set because I only wanted the neons out of the collection anyway. They’re great!
I used Cult Nails Get It On Base Coat and Wicked Fast Top Coat for today’s swatches. ^_^
Glowstick

Glowstick is a BRIGHT neon yellow polish, and we’re in love! It looks much softer and almost pastel in my photos because my camera took one look at this polish and said “LOL, no”. But this baby is highlighter yellow, you can get a more accurate depiction of the color [HERE]. I initially tried using 3 coats of Glowstick by itself but that was not working, it was a streak-fest. But once I layered 1 coat of it over 2 coats of Essie Blanc it was all gravy.
Melt Your Popsicle

Melt Your Popsicle is awesome. Neon orange is my kinda color. Fabulous! The formula was a pain in the ass though, hah! This is 3 coats over 2 coats of Essie Blanc. Not sure why I needed so many coats to get this to level out! Maybe I have a wonky formula? I’m almost wondering if I could get this polish to opaque in 3 coats without the white base since it’s so pigmented. I’ll have to try wearing this again and update you all.
Another thing that I love about this polish is how SUPER tan is makes my hands look! As soon as I put it on my fingers it made me look like I’d been sunbathing for days. I showed my boyfriend the difference in skintone this polish had between my polished hand and my unpolished one, and he though I’d performed so sort of illusionary witchcraft. Too much Diablo for him.
Melt Your Popsicle is going to be my go-to orange for the summer!
Beach Cruiser
Beach Cruiser is a hot neon pink and another ‘instant tan’ color.
I used 3 coats of Beach Cruiser by itself here, no base polish needed. The formula was nice. I foresee this one being on my toes at all times.
Skinny Dip

Skinny Dip is a pretty bright medium blue with a fine shimmer. Not really a neon, but I still love it! It was on the sheer side so I needed 3 coats to reach opacity. And like the other polishes shown above, this one dried with a satin matte finish so you’ll need a top coat to make these polishes nice and shiny.
☻
Final Thoughts:
I really love this set of minis and I’m happy I decided to pick it up! I can’t really name a favorite, I love them all! Neons can be tricky to work with but these were fairly easy to manage, save for the two where I needed a base polish. But with that being said I wouldn’t let that deter me for owning any single one of these. If you’re a fan of neon polishes the Orly Feel The Vibe Collection shouldn’t be missed! These suckers are black light reflective too!
Purchase Info:
The Orly Feel The Vibe Collection can be purchased from various E-Tailers (such as nailsupplies.us, Head2Toe Beauty, Transdesign, etc.). You can also purchase the collection from orlybeauty.com, online at Ulta.com or at Ulta stores nationwide. I’m sure Sally Beauty has it out as well! The prices vary depending on the retailer. ^_^
Totally Not Dead… And A Quick Instagram NOTD!
17Hey Everyone!
I apologize for my almost week-long absence.
I’ve been a busy bee and just haven’t had time to swatch or really do anything blog related for a bit! Honestly the past week has been the first time in over a month where I haven’t had to work both my midnight shifts AND do the salon apprenticeship on the same day, so I took the time to just sit and do ABSOLUTELY. NOTHING.
I still had to work the salon on a few days but on my days where I was off from both I pretty much sat in my yoga pants and turned into a vegetable at home.
I did some swatching on Tuesday but I still need to edit my pictures before I share them with you all in the following days. So in iPhone picture form I’ll do a brief recap on my Sunday-Thursday.
Oh yeah and this happened…

I may have played Diablo III after my boyfriend gave me a guest pass for the game Monday night. And then two days later I may have gone out and bought the game for myself. I’m hooked. Currently I have a lvl 16 wizard, and she just learned chain lightning. So iiisssh just got real.
If anyone’s on Battle.net I’d love to add ya as a friend! My Battle.net ID is Nymeria#1125. ^_^

Chauncey thoroughly enjoyed watching my boyfriend play Diablo III on his laptop. Or he enjoyed the heat coming from the laptop. Whichever.
A Quick Instagram NOTD

As always, mixing the nerd with the nails I present to you a quick NOTD. Something I whipped up while I had some down time at the salon on Thursday. I started out with 2 coats of A England Dragon, one of my absolute favorite polishes from my favorite indie brand. ^_^ Then I stamped on the design with Barry M Gold Foil. My new favorite gold stamping polish that was sent to me by the ever amazing Joanne, thanks girl!

And just because, I’m throwing in a picture of my friend’s younger sister who’s visiting from downstate and came in to get her nails done on Wednesday. I brought in RBL Aqua Lily from home since I knew she would love the color and stamped over it with Barry M Silver Foil. I absolutely LOVE the way her nails turned out!
☻
That’s it for today folks! None of this is really new if you follow me on Instagram, but I just didn’t want to go another day without letting you all know I’m still alive and haven’t abandoned you!
I’ve got the OPI Amazing Spiderman and Minnie Mouse Collection swatches, as well as some comparisons to share with you all soon. Annnnnnd some swatches and a review of Orly’s Feel The Vibe Collection as well. Thank you all for your patience! ♥
* Some of the product(s) in this post were sent to me for unbiased review consideration.
Tag You’re It! – 11 Questions & Versatile Blogger Award
19Morning Everyone!
I don’t usually do these types of posts, but I figured why not give it a try? Mostly because I forgot to edit the photos of the manicure that I planned on posting for today, haha! Also, I think it’d be fun to give these award/questionnaire posts a try. So here it goes!
The Versatile Blogger Award

A thank you goes out to Kelly of Nailpocalypse for nominating me for this award. Check her blog out, her nail art is FAB and her cat is wearing a neck tie. Need I say more?
Here are the rules:
- Thank the person who nominated me and give them a shout out
- State 7 random facts about yourself
Pass on the award to 10-15 bloggers(skipping this part because I’m being lazy
)- Post the award pic to your blog
Seven random facts about me:
- I can cross one eye. For the longest time I thought I was crossing both eyes until a friend pointed out that only one was crossed. Which is 10x cooler.
- My name is really Marie Antoinette, but almost everyone calls me Rie (a nickname that has stuck since I was a toddler). My mom is a bit of a history buff. ^_^
- I am a HUGE true crime buff and have been for over a decade. I find reading cases on Crime Library and watching endless shows on Investigation Discovery to be utterly fascinating. I regularly have mega polish swatching sessions while watching marathons of Deadly Women or Unusual Suspects on the ID Channel. My boyfriend thinks I’m a creeper.
- My favorite movies as a little girl were Firestarter and Jaws. I’ve pretty much been a horror movie fan 4-Lyfe.
- I have 4 tattoos so far: a traditional owl/skull on my left lower calf, a lotus flower on my back, a shoulder-to-shoulder chest piece with characters from one of my favorite comics by Roman Dirge – Lenore and Mr. Gosh, and a GIGANTIC side piece that spans from my knee up to my ribcage of a phoenix. I love them all and want more! ♥
- I love juice. A LOT. I can down a gallon of juice in less than 30 minutes. It’s kinda scary how much I love juice. I especially love orange juice. Don’t get between me and my juice, son!
- I have two nails on my right thumb. I smashed it in a car door when I was a kid and the nail broke off halfway, then a new nail grew over that one and the two fused together. You can’t tell when they’re painted but when I have naked nails you can plainly see that the lunula on that nail is split in half and fused.
11 Questions Tag
I was tagged for this one by my fellow nerd Sarah of Samarium’s Swatches. Thanks girl! I have to answer 11 questions that she created for all the people she tagged, so here it goes!
1. If you could have one superpower/”gift” what would it be and why?
I think I would like the ability to turn grains of rice into legitimate currency. Then I could take care of all my student debt, buy a house and car for all my friends and family, and never have to worry about money again. Oh buy ALLLLL of the nail polish! Muahahahahaaaaaaaaa…. *cough*
2. If you had to have the same polish on for the rest of your life, which would you choose?
Oh geez, hit me with a hard question here.
If I had to wear one polish for the rest of my life I think it’d be China Glaze’s Wagon Trail. Or RBL’s IKB:2012… Or Nfu Oh #51… Ugh, please don’t make me choose!!
3. What is your all time favorite book or Author?
This changes often, but currently my favorite author is George R. R. Martin, the writer for the A Song of Ice and Fire epic fantasy series. I’m currently on book five (A Dance With Dragons) and I don’t know what I’m going to do with my time once I finish it and I have to wait for the last two books of the series to be created.
I think I want to change my super power to willing GRRM to finish the series faster.
4. If you could choose to change anything about yourself, whether it be physical or just to better yourself as a person, what would you change?
I wish I was more organized and less forgetful. I have 8374.6 plans but about 8370.1 of them slip my mind before I can follow through!
5. If you had to live in a movie, tv show or video game which would you choose to exist in!?
While my favorite video game series ever is Silent Hill, that is NOT a world I would want to live in. Yeesh. I think I’d like to live in the Sims 3 world (with all the expansion packs). But only if I had a cooking skill of 6 or higher.
6. What do you feel is the best quality you possess?
I believe that my ability to persevere over extreme obstacles is my best quality. Life isn’t easy and I’ve been through some trials and tribulations, but I always bounce back strong.
7. How would you spend your last day on earth if you knew when that day was?
I would spend the day surrounded my the people I love, and weep over all the nail polish I’d never be able to wear again.
8. If you had a chance to meet anybody (alive or dead) who would you meet?
I would love to meet Fiona Apple or Tori Amos. They’re two of my favorite musicians and are remarkably strong women. I would love to pick their brains or just sit and watch them work. ♥
9. What is your favorite dessert?
Ooooooh shiiiiiit.. Um, I love desert of any kind except for chocolate. I hate chocolate. Anyway, I think if I had to name a favorite it would be cheesecake of any kind. Well, any kind but chocolate. Chocolate can basically GTFO. Exception is made for the chocolate Joanne sent me from Blackpool, because it’s delicious!
I also love my grandma’s 7-Up cake and peach cobbler. SO good!
10. What is your all time fav band?
If I had to name a favorite band it would definitely be Death Cab For Cutie. I discovered them in 2005-2006 and never looked back. I love them so much and it’s my life dream to be able to see them play live some day. ^_^
11. Do you have a weird quirk, or something a little strange that you do? What is it!? (lol I twitch, and snort haha)
I hiccup. Several times a day, throughout the entire day. I think I get a ‘regular’ case of hiccups where I have to hold my breath to make them stop only about 3-4 times a year. Otherwise I’ll have one or two hiccups in a row and that’s it for the hour. Wash, rinse, repeat. I’ve had these random hiccups since I was 12. When I’m stressed or nervous I hiccup more.
☻
That’s it for today, I hope you enjoyed learning some strange things about my little world. ^_^
I’m not going to tag anyone, but if anyone wants to answer these questions or list 7 facts about yourselves in comments I’d love to read them!
