OPI Fall 2012 Collection Comparison Swatches!!

21

Morning Everyone!

Here’s a few OPI Fall 2012 collection comparison swatches for you all. I’m not going to do a ton because Jen from The Polishaholic already did a PHENOMENAL comparison post that you can see [HERE]!

I’ll just be including some requested comparisons and a few that I think will benefit people including polishes that Jen did not feature in her post. ^_^

If anyone can think of some other polishes they’d like to see compared here, let me know in the comments section. If I own both polishes then I will update this post with swatches! :-D

If you missed my posts on the OPI Fall 2012 collections you can see them here:

OPI Every Month Is Oktoberfest vs. ANNY The Answer Is Love

ANNY 'The Answer Is Love' vs. OPI 'Every Month Is Oktoberfest'
Just by looking at bottle shots of these two I could tell that it was gonna be close! You can see swatches of The Answer Is Love [HERE]. Let’s take a look at the swatches. ^_^
ANNY 'The Answer Is Love' vs. OPI 'Every Month Is Oktoberfest'
ANNY 'The Answer Is Love' vs. OPI 'Every Month Is Oktoberfest'
Shown here is 2 coats of each. Not exact dupes, but very close! The shimmer in The Answer Is Love is a bit stronger with a more copper orange undertones. But to the naked eye there is barely a noticeable difference. Since the ANNY polish is not easily obtainable in the US, OPI’s Every Month Is Oktoberfest is your closest option if you are lemming after ANNY The Answer Is Love. ^_^

NOPI Mermaid For Each Other vs. Missha HRG01 vs. Peridot

Chanel Peridot vs NOPI Mermaid For Each Other vs Missha HRG01
Just by looking at the bottle shots here, you can already tell that NOPI Mermaid For Each Other (MFEO) is not another Peridot dupe (thankfully). I pulled out my bottle of Missha HRG01 because it looked pretty dang close.
Chanel Peridot vs NOPI Mermaid For Each Other vs Missha HRG01
Chanel Peridot vs NOPI Mermaid For Each Other vs Missha HRG01
Dupe City Bitch! Dupe, Dupe City B…. I’ll stop. ;-) Mermaid For Each Other (MFEO) and HRG01 are damn near identical! I used 2 coats of each and 3 coats of Peridot. You cannot tell them apart from the naked eye. The only thing that gives HRG01 away as being different is the horrific fake rose scent that they added to the polish. :-P

OPI Nein! Nein! Nein! OK Fine! vs. Essie Power Clutch

OPI Nein! Nein! Nein! Ok, Fine! vs Essie Power Clutch
I honestly thought that Essie Power Clutch (PC) and OPI Nein! Nein! Nein! Ok Fine! would be closer than this, but my eyes were apparently playing tricks on me. Definitely NOT dupes. 2 coats of each polish here.

Rimmel Lava Red vs. OPI German-icure

Rimmel Lava Red vs OPI Germanicure
Rimmel Lava Red vs OPI Germanicure (flash)
I remembered that I had my beloved Rimmel Lava Red in my collection. It’s a bit HTF these days so I wanted to see how OPI German-icure compared. Not dupes, German-icure is darker with more of a dried blood/brown tone to it than Lava Red. I personally think you need both. ;-)

OPI Deutsch You Want Me Baby vs. Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Orange Splash

OPI Deustch You Want Me Baby vs Sally Hansen Insta Dri Orange Splash
OPI Deustch You Want Me Baby vs Sally Hansen Insta Dri Orange Splash
I snagged a bottle of Sally Hansen Orange Splash from the same Fall 2012 display with In A Flurry. I couldn’t find any swatches of Orange Splash online but I figured it’s orange so I needed it. :-P Not a dupe like I was guessing for OPI Deutsch You Want Me Baby (DYWMB), but still gorgeous! Orange Splash is very much a Summer orange while DYWMB is all about the Fall. 2 coats of each polish here.

OPI Danke Shiny Red vs. A England Perceval

OPI Danke Shiny Red vs A England Perceval
OPI Danke Shiny Red vs A England Perceval
A England Perceval is my absolute favorite garnet/jewel toned red. I wanted to see how OPI Danke Shiny Red compared. Not even close my friends. 2 coats of each. Danke Shiny Red is pretty, but Perceval just has more depth. ♥

OPI DS Luxurious vs. China Glaze Riveting

OPI Luxurious vs China Glaze Riveting
OPI Luxurious vs China Glaze Riveting
And saving my two favorites for last, DS Luxurious compared to China Glaze Riveting (another all time favorite). While these two are very close they are not dupes. DS Luxurious is a touch darker and has larger gold particles. Both are gorgeous. If you have one you don’t necessarily need the other, and Riveting is going to cost you less since it lacks the diamond dust that’s in the OPI DS line. 2 coats of each polish here. I love both and I’m glad I have both. ^_^

☻☻☻

Thank you for checking out my comparison shots! If you can think of anything else you’d like to see me do comparisons with, please shoot me a message! I hope you also liked my incredible shrinking nail length, haha! These photos have been sitting for a bit and my talons have grown since then. I think I might file ‘em down to this length again though. Easier to type with. ;-)

Cirque All Hallow’s Eve Collection Swatches and Giveaway!!

7

Cirque Kabocha and Cirque Neko

Morning Everyone!

We’re quickly approaching my favorite month and my favorite time of the year. Fall is upon us in my neck of the woods and Halloween is just a little over a month away!! I’ve already got my costume planned, my boyfriend and I are going as Princess Bubblegum and Finn the Human from Adventure Time! Does anyone else have plans for the holiday? On top of the best holiday of the year, my birthday is also next month and SIX of my favorite Fall tv shows are starting new seasons! 8O

I’ve got swatches of the Cirque All Hallow’s Eve Collection to share with you all today! This is a limited edition mini-collection that Annie of Cirque created for the holiday that consists of Kabocha (a bright orange glow-in-the-dark jelly) and Neko (a black shredded glitter topcoat).

Kabocha

Cirque Kabocha
Cirque Kabocha
Kabocha is a Japanese variety of winter squash which is also commonly called a Japanese pumpkin. The flesh of a kabocha squash is a bright orange color. It’s not quite as bright as this Kabocha but both are festive for the Fall season. ;-)

Cirque’s Kabocha is a bright neon orange jelly that glows in the dark! It’s quite sheer, so I needed 4 coats to reach opacity and even then I could still see a bit of VNL. If you want Kabocha to be completely opaque you’ll have to layer it over a light or white nail polish. Kabocha dries with a little bit of a gritty appearance due to the glow pigment, but a layer of top coat fixes that quickly to reveal smooth orange jelly goodness. Even with all the layers, Kabocha dries super fast and I didn’t have to do any additional cleanup for my cuticle area. :-D
Cirque Kabocha
Let me just add how difficult it is to capture glow in the dark nail polish on camera! 8O

I think I took about 89843.5 photos and managed to get a handful of ones decent enough to show you guys, haha! Kabocha has a rather quick ‘charge’ time and the glow is great! The longer you charge the polish under a light, the longer the glow lasts. This polish is black light reactive as well!

Neko

Cirque Kabocha and Neko (layered)
Cirque Kabocha and Neko (layered)
Cirque Kabocha and Neko (layered)
Here is one coat of Neko layered over Kabocha. I LOVE IT!! Neko is a black shredded glitter topcoat that’s quite easy to work with. I didn’t have any issues getting the glitter onto the brush and one coat was enough to disperse the glitter evenly over my nails. You may get a stray glitter shard sticking up due to the glitter shape, but top coat should smooth things out fairly well.
Cirque Kabocha and Neko (layered)
And here’s what Neko layered over Kabocha looks like in the dark. Oh I like. I like a lot. :-D

Final Thoughts:

Kabocha and Neko are perfect additions to my Fall collection of polishes! I’m already a sucker for anything orange, and add on the fact that Kabocha is a jelly and it’s like a cherry on top of an already amazing sundae! And Neko is such a versatile polish that I can see myself layering it over ALL the things! :-P

Unfortunately the All Hallow’s Eve collection containing Kabocha and Neko have already sold out on the Cirque website. :-( But fret not my friends, Annie was kind enough to set aside a bottle of Kabocha and Neko for me to host a giveaway on my blog! So if you missed out on your chance to own the All Hallow’s Eve collection for yourself, keep reading and find out how you can possibly bring these babies home! :-D

Rescue Beauty Lounge Swatches – Coral, Moulin Rouge and Grunge!

RBL Grunge, Coral, and Moulin Rouge

Morning Lovelies!

I’m back today with Rescue Beauty Lounge swatches for Coral, Moulin Rouge, and Grunge! While these three are not new polishes to the RBL line, they were out of stock for quite some time and have recently returned to the RBL shop! So if you missed them before, now’s your chance to stock up! :-P

Let’s get to the swatches then, I used RBL’s base coat and top coat for everything shown today. :-)

Grunge

RBL Grunge 2
RBL Grunge 1
RBL Grunge 3
Grunge is a warm fleshed toned ‘dirty’ neutral, one of those “Band-Aid But Better” polishes that I have come to love over the past few years. I was surprised by the hidden silver shimmer, totally not expecting to find that here but I love it! This is 3 coats, if you’re really careful you might be able to get away with 2 coats.

Coral

RBL Coral 2
RBL Coral 1
Coral. YASSSSSSSS!!! This polish is everything. I’m basically forever on a coral and orange kick, so this polish is right up my alley. And I’m pretty sure it was one of the first RBL polishes I fell in love with but hadn’t snagged yet. Now I can check it off the list, and it’s a beauty!

Coral is a bright (but not neon) pinkish leaning [wait for it....] coral with a jelly-creme hybrid finish. I used 3 coats for full opacity, but you can do 2 coats if you don’t mind a hint of VNL. This polish is perfection for summer, but not so bright that you can’t rock this baby in the Fall. I’m thinking this is going on my toes next. :-D

Moulin Rouge

RBL Moulin Rouge 1
RBL Moulin Rouge 2
Moulin Rouge is Fall Vamp Heaven! Ji described this one as a “black cherries wrapped in dark chocolate” , and honestly she nailed it on that one! I could not describe this color any other way. It made me want to eat my nails, and I don’t even like chocolate! ;-) This is 2 easy coats. Depending on the lighting Moulin Rouge will pull more chocolate or more reddish, it’s a bit of a chameleon that way. ^_^

Final Thoughts:

I’ve seriously yet to be disappointed by a Rescue Beauty Lounge polish. I love the bottle shapes, the brush, the formula!! If I had to pick a favorite from these three it’d be Coral, but all of them are fabulous. Moulin Rouge is absolutely perfection for the Fall, and Grunge is a solid neutral if you’re looking to add one to your collection from a boutique/higher end brand.

Purchase Info:

RBL Coral, Grunge and Moulin Rouge can be purchased at www.rescuebeauty.com now! The polishes retail at $20 per 0.4 fl oz bottle of polish. They contain no harmful Toluene, Formaldehyde, DBP, or Formaldehyde Resin and they do not test on animals.

I’ll Just Leave This Right Here…

Hey Everyone!

Long time no talk, eh? I did not mean to be away from the blog for this long but time definitely got away from me. I still have every intention of posting my comparison swatches for the OPI Germany Collection (once I have time to sit down and edit my photos…), the Cirque Halloween Collection, and an Ultra. Mega. Shit-Ton of other polishes to share with you guys. 8O I swear I need two extra days added to the week, but no one listens to poor little Rie… ;-)

There were a lot of factors keeping me away. But mainly is was a combination of work, sleep when not working, and Guild Wars 2 when not working or sleeping. And even then, I haven’t played GW2 in a few weeks! I’ve just been in a stupor on my days off from work, need to snap out of it and get back into the polish state of mind.

For now I hope you enjoy this smorgasbord (get snacks, this is a LONG post) of Instagram photos until I can get my ish together [hopefully] this upcoming week. If you already follow me on Instagram none of this will really be all that new to you, but feel free to browse anyway! :-P

Mathmatical Halloween!!

The boyfriend and I finally decided what we wanted to do for Halloween! It’s my favorite holiday of the year and I usually go ALL out with my costume. I originally had planned on being Mad Moxxi from the Borderlands video game, but time and money grew too tight for me to pull that one off this year. :-( But fret not! I had an epiphany while spending a day brainstorming ideas and I decided that I would be [a more adult version of] Princess Bubblegum from Adventure Time!! Chad (the bf) is going to be Finn The Human. Everything is purchased for my costume and I made a Polyvore collage of what I’ll be wearing for the greatest day of the year (besides my birthday… ;-)).

You can get all the details of where I got what on my Polyvore page. ^_^

NOTDs and Hauls

Neon saran wrap marble nails
I did these for a black light party I attended! I used Takko Lacquer’s Lemon Macaroon as my base. Then I used several of China Glaze Summer Neons over it for the saran wrap marble. I also used Dollish Polish The Koopa King for the accent nail.
HAREpolish Magic Mist over A England Guinevere
This is HAREpolish Magic Mist layered over A England Guinevere. I friggin LOVE this layering combo! I wore it for almost 2 whole weeks and had ONE chip.
Funky French - Barry M Blue Moon and GOSH Holographic
Going out of my comfort zone a bit with this one (and I’m currently still wearing this), I decided to do a freehand ‘funky french’ with two polishes that my amazing friend Esther sent my way. I used Barry M Blue Moon and GOSH Holographic (!!!!!!) for this look. I don’t think I’ve had a french manicure of any kind in damn near 5 years, haha. But I like this look, it’s crisp without being outdated. :-D
Haul One
One of my many hauls that I’ve been hoarding for the past month. :-P
A England Gothic Beauties Collection from Adina | GOSH Holographic (!!!), Barry M Blue Moon, and a Stuff On My Cat book from my lovely friend Esther | Zoya Promo Haul – Gwin, FeiFei, Daul, Adina, Frida and Yara (which just reminds me of the name change for Asha on Game of Thrones) | And Indie goodies from Enchanted Polish, Rainbow Polish and Fanchromatic Nails!
Aphrodite Lacquer Polishes
Aphrodite Lacquers was kind enough to send me a box of her newer offerings, I can’t wait to swatch these bad boys! ^_^

Also a MASSIVE box of goodies from Llarowe arrived. Haven’t had time to swatch them yet but they’re on my enormous to-do list! I don’t remember the names of the polishes right now, sorry!
Llarowe Haul
HAREpolish, Pahlish and CrowsToes
Llarowe Haul
Enchanted Polish, Contrary Polish, and Impala
Llarow Haul
Super Mario Bros. Collection from Dollish Polish. My nerdiness is showing. :-P

Healthy Noms

In an effort to lose weight/eat better/get into shape I’ve put myself on a diet and exercise plan of sorts. I’m already down 10 lbs but I’ve still got a ways to go. And it’s a bit discouraging to not see the weight immediately come off like celebrities that are insta-thin right after giving birth. Bah, patience is a virtue… etc… ANYWAY, I’ve been cooking at home more and eating out less. If you’re interested in recipes for either of these let me know!
Vegetarian Stir-Fry with Teriyake Chili Garlic Sauce
I made this Vegetarian Stir-Fry with Teriyaki Chili Garlic Sauce in a hastily thrown together 20 minutes before I had to work the other night. I served it over glass/cellophane noodles and it turned out pretty damn good!
Baked Parmesan Zucchini Chips
These baked parmesan zucchini chips turned out great! Though I think I’ll be tweaking the recipe I used a bit to see if I can perfect it. ^_^ It’s definitely satisfying to gorge myself on a healthy and low-calorie snack for a change. ;-)

FOTD and New Hair!

Also I got bored with my hair (surprise surprise), the pinkish ombre I had over the summer had faded to a hideous color anyway. I decided to dye it one day to a lighter auburn red with honey blonde-ish highlights. I say ‘ish’ because I really had a faint general idea of what I wanted it to look like and then just winged it from there. Thankfully my hair didn’t fall out and it turned out pretty nicely! I am in dire need of a deep conditioning treatment and a trim of some straggly ends but otherwise no worse for wear. ;-)

FOTD - Winged Eyeliner, Gold Eyeshadow & Orange Lips

FOTD - Winged Eyeliner, Gold Eyeshadow & Orange Lips
FOTD – Winged Eyeliner, Gold Eyeshadow & Orange Lips
This was a quickie attempt at me creating a look before I had to rush out the door, and my first real attempt at winged eyeliner. Excuse my eyebrows, they are a mess. :-P

Products Used:
Wet ‘n’ Wild ‘I Got Good Jeans Palette‘ (the gold eyeshadow)
Maybelline Bouncy Blush in Peach Satin
Eyeko Skinny Liquid Liner in Black
L’Oreal Colour Riche Caresse Stick in Fiery Veil

For Tyria!!! A Guild Wars 2 Fangirl MiniSpam

Here’s some screens from my various characters in Guild Wars 2. I have an entire album on my Facebook dedicated to screenshots, but I’ll just share a few with you from my Instagram. :-D Again, if you’re playing the game I’m on the US Sanctum of Rall server and my ID is Nymeria.4326. ^_^
GW2
Three of my characters from GW2, I may have a bit of “Alt-Itis”… ;-)

GW2

*phew!*

So that’s pretty much what I’ve been up to for the past 3 weeks, minus my recharge time between work. I’m crossing my fingers that I’ll get my mojo back this week because I’m itchin’ to show you some pretty polishes very very soon. ^_^
