Why Hello Thar…
Long time no type, eh?
I think the last time I updated was ohhh… Almost two months ago! Which is the longest hiatus I think I’ve ever taken from my blog. Sorry about that folks, time flies when you’re busy doing other things. Or doing a bunch of nothing. Or a mix of both? I really didn’t mean to be away for so long, but I just needed a break from the blogging grind. It was starting to become more of a chore instead of being fun. And honestly, I STILL don’t have swatches for you all today but I hope to get back to swatching in the near future.
What have I been up to, you ask? Well, not much actually. Relaxing, working, spending time with friends and the boyfriend. Also reading, BECOMING OBSESSED WITH BLACK MILK CLOTHING, and most recently getting over the flu. The flu sucks. A lot. It’s been a week since it started and I’m still not at 100% functionality. I’m still running on fumes. :/
In the meantime, I will spam you all with photos from my Instagram account that you may or may not have already seen if you follow me there.
Food Subscription Boxes
I’ve gone a little nutty over food subscription boxes as of late. But hey, I love food. More than nail polish most days and I enjoy being able to try new things. So I cancelled my Birchbox and signed up for three food boxes. I’ll include referral links for the ones that have them just in case anyone wants to use it.
Goodies Co. is part of the Walmart brand. Yes I know, eeeeviillll Walmart but this food box is amazing! Everything in their box is organic and most of it was also vegan and/or nut free. The cinnamon sugar popcorn, oatcakes and apple chips were heavenly. I think it’s still in beta mode and you can sign up for an invite at www.goodies.co, the subscription is only $7 per month including shipping. And it’s the largest of the three that I signed up for. Click the photo for more details on what I got in my December box.
Love With Food is the ‘mid-range’ food box that mainly deals with gourmet noms. This was my January box and while the cookies were a little crushed this time everything was really tasty. I LOOOOVED the plantain chips and the chai! This box is $12 per month. What I love about this box is that for every subscription box they send out, they also donate a meal to the needy. How awesome is that! While you nom, you’re helping someone else nom too. You can sign up with the link I provided at the begging on this paragraph, or through my referral link [HERE]. Once again, click the photo for more details on what was in my January box.
Petit Amuse is the smallest subscription box of the three I’m signed up for, and the most ‘expensive’ at $12 a month. But they specialize in small-scale Artisan/Small Market style foods that you really can’t find shopping at your average store in town. I love the little surprises I get each month. This is a photo from my December box. I already ate half of my January box and forgot to photograph it. You can sign up at via the link I provided at the beginning of this paragraph, or my referral link [HERE]. Clicking the photo will take you to the IG page where I describe by December box contents. The nougat and honey were ammmmaazing. ^_^
Biscoff is a cookie spread, and it is like crack. So friggin addicting! I haven’t even used it as a spread, I’ve just been eating it from the jar with a spoon. It reminds me of the filling inside Nutter Butters. I just ordered a jar of Crunchy Biscoff which has bits of cookie spread in the mix. O___O
Pomegranates might be my favorite fruit, and they’re relatively cheap where I live ($1.90 each I think) and I’ve been hitting the jackpot with picking them out lately. Such a wonderful mix of tart, sweet and crunchy. Yum yum yum!
While I still read and love The Walking Dead, I’ve been branching out heavily into my comic and graphic novel loooove. I already flew through Neil Gaiman’s The Sandman series and all its spinoffs, and I just finished up reading Runaways. Here’s a few more I’m obsessing over lately. ♥
If you love comics and you are not reading Brian K. Vaughan’s Saga yet Imma have to hurt you. IT IS SO GOOD!! I’ve loved Vaughan’s work since Y: The Last Man and while Saga is only 9 issues in it’s already becoming a favorite of mine and pulling at my heart-strings. Fiona Staples artwork for the comic is fricking superb! The first trade paperback was just released a few months ago and covers issues #1-6.
CHEW is another one that I just started reading at the suggestion of my friend. I love it! It’s quite dark and humorous at the same time. I should have TPB vol. 5 and vol. 6 in my mitts today which will get me caught up to issue #30.
I just started reading Bill Willingham’s Fables earlier this month and I am in LOVE. I’m about 50 issues into the main story and getting ready to dive into Jack of Fables, one of the many spin-offs from the main series. Comics + Folklore = So much love!
Selfies! And My Growing Black Milk Collection
So… If you’re friends with me or follow me on Instagram, you’ll already know that my love of Black Milk Clothing is undying. I have a growing collection of their lovelies so I figured I share a few photos of me wearing some delicious nylon. :p
Most of the pieces in my collection are/were limited edition items, so they are no longer available for sale on their site.
This is my prized possession, the Woman in Red Ep. 1 dress! I’ve yet to wear it in public yet but it’s definitely one of my favorite pieces! I was trying to winterize it a bit by matching it with leggings and these shoes I got at Target for $9 bucks!!!
Another museum piece (aka retired), the Not Impressed Bunny dress. I friggin love the bunny’s “And not a single f*ck was given” face he is giving. I’m assuming the bunny is a male, who really knows.
My latest (now sold out) piece, the Egypt leggings!!! I love, LOVE, LOOOOOVE these. And I was so happy to have been able to snag a pair before they sold out.
So my room is always messy. Deal With It. I think I have about 9 or 10 items from Black Milk so far. They just released part one of their LOTR/Hobbit collection. My bank account is already afraid.
And for shiggles, a most recent photo of yours truly sporting mah new bangs! I cut them myself, not bad eh? And yes, I’m wearing shorts in my house but we don’t control the heat and it was like 80 degrees in my bedroom. Or I might have still had a fever. Did I mention I’m getting over the flu?
Save The Dauphine!
And look! Nail polish! See, I still know what this stuff is. These are bottle shots of Pretty & Polished’s Save The Dauphine collection based on Marie Antoinette. And since that is my name (for real y’all!) I had to have it. HAD TO. I plan to swatch it very soon. ^_^
Thank you all for indulging me in my spammy spam spam post today. Typing this out has actually been pretty fun, and I miss you all very much. Let’s hope I find my swatching mojo soon because I have a
shitload huge backlog of nail polishes to share with you all.
Oh My Glob Everyone!
I was so friggin pumped when I realized that Pretty and Polished was making the Mathematical!! collection based off the show Adventure Time! As you may well know by now, my boyfriend and I are completely obsessed with the show. We even dressed up at Princess Bubblegum and Finn for Halloween! I set my alarm for the minute these got released and snagged 5 minis from the 8 polish collection. I’ll more than likely go back for the full sized bottles at some point because this collection is totally shmowzow!
If you’re not familiar with Adventure Time, I’ll try to briefly describe it to you. It’s an American tv show on Cartoon Network that follows a 14-year-old boy named Finn the Human and his yellow dog named Jake (who has magical powers) through the post-apocalyptic world called Land of Ooo. Some other outstanding characters in the show are: Princess Bubblegum, the ruler of Candy Kingdom; The Ice King, kinda evil but mostly just wants to marry all the PRINCESSES!!; Lumpy Space Princess, who is pretty much a lumpy valley girl; Marceline, the coolest sorta evil-but-not-really hipster vampire; Lady Rainicorn, Jake’s girlfriend (he’s the only one that understand what she’s saying…) who is half rainbow and half unicorn; and Beemo/BMO, the most adorable handheld gaming system ever. There are TONS of other characters and lots of back-story. So if you enjoy reading check out the wiki and wikia pages! ^_^
Enough of my rambling, let’s get to the swatches!
I’m Not A Banana!
First up is I’m Not A Banana! This one is based on Jake the Dog. The yellow jelly is a perfect match for his fur color, and I love the black and white hex glitter! This one was pretty sheer but I was able to build it to an opacity I liked after 4 coats. I didn’t have any issue with getting the hex glitter out of the bottle and it dried relatively quickly for as much as I used. I’ll have to search through my yellows to see if I have something similar to layer it with next time. Maybe Cult Nails Feel Me Up?
King Of C-C-Cool
King of C-C-Cool is based on the Ice King and it’s so awesome! I have nothing like this polish in my collection at all. It’s a blue squishy creme/jelly base filled with blue micro-shimmer, tiny red square glitter, blue and yellow hex glitter, and white diamond glitter! I absolutely LOVE this one. I used 3 coats here and had no issues getting a good amount of each type of glitter on my nails. No dabbing necessary even though there’s so much going on!
My Lumps represents the ever awesome Lumpy Space Princess, and is a sheer purple jelly filled with yellow and purple glitter shards and blurple micro-shimmer. This was the only one I chose to layer out of the group. It looked too sheer to build up on its own but in hindsight I believe you can get this one to opacity after 4 coats. Shown here is 3 coats over A England Guinevere. You can’t even really see my base polish at all anymore (except for maybe my pinky which I think I accidentally only did 2 coats of My Lumps ).
This is another unique one for me in my collection. I loved the yellow flash in the purple! The glitter was fairly easy to place, just make sure you wait between coats so you don’t drag it. And a good top coat will keep the surface smooth.
Peebles is named after Princess Bubblegum (who is often referred to as PB or Peebles in the show). This one is a squishy bubblegum pink jelly with fuchsia micro-shimmer and pink and yellow hex glitter. I looooooove this one, but I may be partial because PB is my favorite character in the show. I used 3 coats here.
The Young Hero
And lastly, we have The Young Hero! This one is named after Finn the Human and it’s another favorite for me in the collection. The Young Hero is a squishy white creme/jelly hybrid filled with blue and yellow small glitters, small blue hex glitter, light blue square glitter and light green hex glitter. LOVE!
I’ve been wearing this one for a few days now. The cashier as PetSmart stopped me dead in the middle of my transaction to gush about my nails when I had this on! She thought I’d put the glitter in there myself.
You all get TWO macro shots of The Young Hero because you’re that special to me, haha. That and you can see the green hex glitter in the first macro.
Application for The Young Hero was a little tricky. It was hard to get it to level out to even coat on some nails but I managed to get it all under control at 4 thin coats. If you wait between coats or layer it over a white base (I didn’t do either of those things, haha) you might have an easier time of it. But it was totally worth the effort because this final result is effing gorgeous!
And here’s a few bonus shots of the mini bottles with the new Pretty and Polished labels. I love that each bottle has little colored polish drops that reflect the colors inside each individual polish! Very cute!
Even if I weren’t partial to Adventure Time I would still give my picks from this collection an A+++++! Every single polish from the collection is entirely unique to my stash and they all have something great to offer. Not to mention, they’re just so dang fun! I think each one accurately represents the whimsical (and slightly off the wall) nature of the television show, and each polish is a perfect representation of the characters that inspired them. Dare I say that if I made a top 10 indie collection list for 2012, the Mathematical!! collection would be on that list for sure!
Do you need these? Get the math outta here with that question, heck yeah you need them!
The entire Pretty and Polished Mathematical!! collection can be purchased from their online store, www.shopprettyandpolished.com. Each polish retails at $5.00 for the mini and $9 for the full sized bottle. You can also still find Pretty and Polished on her Etsy Shop.
Long time no talk, eh? I did not mean to be away from the blog for this long but time definitely got away from me. I still have every intention of posting my comparison swatches for the OPI Germany Collection (once I have time to sit down and edit my photos…), the Cirque Halloween Collection, and an Ultra. Mega. Shit-Ton of other polishes to share with you guys. I swear I need two extra days added to the week, but no one listens to poor little Rie…
There were a lot of factors keeping me away. But mainly is was a combination of work, sleep when not working, and Guild Wars 2 when not working or sleeping. And even then, I haven’t played GW2 in a few weeks! I’ve just been in a stupor on my days off from work, need to snap out of it and get back into the polish state of mind.
For now I hope you enjoy this smorgasbord (get snacks, this is a LONG post) of Instagram photos until I can get my ish together [hopefully] this upcoming week. If you already follow me on Instagram none of this will really be all that new to you, but feel free to browse anyway!
The boyfriend and I finally decided what we wanted to do for Halloween! It’s my favorite holiday of the year and I usually go ALL out with my costume. I originally had planned on being Mad Moxxi from the Borderlands video game, but time and money grew too tight for me to pull that one off this year. But fret not! I had an epiphany while spending a day brainstorming ideas and I decided that I would be [a more adult version of] Princess Bubblegum from Adventure Time!! Chad (the bf) is going to be Finn The Human. Everything is purchased for my costume and I made a Polyvore collage of what I’ll be wearing for the greatest day of the year (besides my birthday… ).
You can get all the details of where I got what on my Polyvore page. ^_^
NOTDs and Hauls
I did these for a black light party I attended! I used Takko Lacquer’s Lemon Macaroon as my base. Then I used several of China Glaze Summer Neons over it for the saran wrap marble. I also used Dollish Polish The Koopa King for the accent nail.
This is HAREpolish Magic Mist layered over A England Guinevere. I friggin LOVE this layering combo! I wore it for almost 2 whole weeks and had ONE chip.
Going out of my comfort zone a bit with this one (and I’m currently still wearing this), I decided to do a freehand ‘funky french’ with two polishes that my amazing friend Esther sent my way. I used Barry M Blue Moon and GOSH Holographic (!!!!!!) for this look. I don’t think I’ve had a french manicure of any kind in damn near 5 years, haha. But I like this look, it’s crisp without being outdated.
One of my many hauls that I’ve been hoarding for the past month.
A England Gothic Beauties Collection from Adina | GOSH Holographic (!!!), Barry M Blue Moon, and a Stuff On My Cat book from my lovely friend Esther | Zoya Promo Haul – Gwin, FeiFei, Daul, Adina, Frida and Yara (which just reminds me of the name change for Asha on Game of Thrones) | And Indie goodies from Enchanted Polish, Rainbow Polish and Fanchromatic Nails!
Aphrodite Lacquers was kind enough to send me a box of her newer offerings, I can’t wait to swatch these bad boys! ^_^
Also a MASSIVE box of goodies from Llarowe arrived. Haven’t had time to swatch them yet but they’re on my enormous to-do list! I don’t remember the names of the polishes right now, sorry!
HAREpolish, Pahlish and CrowsToes
Enchanted Polish, Contrary Polish, and Impala
Super Mario Bros. Collection from Dollish Polish. My nerdiness is showing.
In an effort to lose weight/eat better/get into shape I’ve put myself on a diet and exercise plan of sorts. I’m already down 10 lbs but I’ve still got a ways to go. And it’s a bit discouraging to not see the weight immediately come off like celebrities that are insta-thin right after giving birth. Bah, patience is a virtue… etc… ANYWAY, I’ve been cooking at home more and eating out less. If you’re interested in recipes for either of these let me know!
I made this Vegetarian Stir-Fry with Teriyaki Chili Garlic Sauce in a hastily thrown together 20 minutes before I had to work the other night. I served it over glass/cellophane noodles and it turned out pretty damn good!
These baked parmesan zucchini chips turned out great! Though I think I’ll be tweaking the recipe I used a bit to see if I can perfect it. ^_^ It’s definitely satisfying to gorge myself on a healthy and low-calorie snack for a change.
FOTD and New Hair!
Also I got bored with my hair (surprise surprise), the pinkish ombre I had over the summer had faded to a hideous color anyway. I decided to dye it one day to a lighter auburn red with honey blonde-ish highlights. I say ‘ish’ because I really had a faint general idea of what I wanted it to look like and then just winged it from there. Thankfully my hair didn’t fall out and it turned out pretty nicely! I am in dire need of a deep conditioning treatment and a trim of some straggly ends but otherwise no worse for wear.
FOTD – Winged Eyeliner, Gold Eyeshadow & Orange Lips
This was a quickie attempt at me creating a look before I had to rush out the door, and my first real attempt at winged eyeliner. Excuse my eyebrows, they are a mess.
For Tyria!!! A Guild Wars 2 Fangirl MiniSpam
Here’s some screens from my various characters in Guild Wars 2. I have an entire album on my Facebook dedicated to screenshots, but I’ll just share a few with you from my Instagram. Again, if you’re playing the game I’m on the US Sanctum of Rall server and my ID is Nymeria.4326. ^_^
Three of my characters from GW2, I may have a bit of “Alt-Itis”…
So that’s pretty much what I’ve been up to for the past 3 weeks, minus my recharge time between work. I’m crossing my fingers that I’ll get my mojo back this week because I’m itchin’ to show you some pretty polishes very very soon. ^_^
I’ve got a swatches from an Indie polish brand that’s new to me to share with you all today. We’ll be taking a look at the Lilacquer Polishes Fifth Element collection! When I was first contacted by Lilacquer Polishes and asked if I wanted to review her Fifth Element collection I friggen JUMPED at the chance to get my hands on these babies! For one, I’m a gigantic nerd. And two, The Fifth Element is one of my absolute favorite movies of all time!
So basically if it’s a nail polish and it’s named after a fandom I love, imma need that polish son.
Cathleen, the owner of Lilacquer Polishes, specializes in duochrome polish and top coats. This was another reason I was quite interested in her collection. The Indie/Independent polish world is absolutely flooded with glitter polishes, so I love discovering Indie brands with something different to offer.
The Fifth Element collection is a set of 8 sheer and jelly (!!!) topcoat polishes that can be worn on their own or layered over another polish to enhance the duochrome effect. I’ll be showing you each nail polish on its own and layered over A England Camelot (a black creme).
For the full swatches and review, click the link below. I used Cult Nails Get It On and Wicked Fast base/top coat today.
I hope you’re all having a great Thursday so far. Mine is already great for several reasons.
- I’m going to see Big Gigantic in concert with my boyfriend and co. tonight!
- No more midnight shifts until Tuesday of next week for this girl! I still have the nail tech apprenticeship at the salon today and Saturday, but I’ll take what I can get.
- The first Guild Wars 2 Beta Weekend Event starts on Friday!!
I don’t know if any of you have played the original Guild Wars, but I was mildly obsessed with that game when it first came out. I’ve been waiting patiently for GW2 for years and I’m so excited to be able to try it out early (the game releases in late July). Are any of you fine folks taking part of the beta weekend as well? If so, find me in-game! My Guild Wars 2 User ID is Nymeria.4326 (if you get the reference on the name you win 100 internets )
But I digress, let’s get back to the topic of nail polish shall we?
I’m happy to show you the beautiful OPI NYC Ballet Soft Shades Collection for 2012! I initially wasn’t too interested in this 6 polish collection because I just really don’t wear a lot of sheers or neutrals. But once I realized that 5 out of the 6 had milky jelly finishes I was all in.
I used Cult Nails Get It On Base Coat for all swatches shown today. All polish swatches without Pirouette My Whistle have Essie Good To Go Top Coat. All swatches shown with Pirouette My Whistle DO NOT have top coat.
Care To Danse?
You Callin’ Me A Lyre?
Barre My Soul
Don’t Touch My Tutu!
My Pointe Exactly
Pirouette My Whistle
Pirouette My Whistle has a clear base that’s filled with teeny tiny silver glitter and larger white hex glitter pieces. I didn’t swatch it alone because my pointer finger is still rocking a stain from whatever hell-beast green polish I was wearing on that finger for my St. Patrick’s Day mani, and I was wearing a base coat! I did layer 1 coat of Pirouette My Whistle over the other 5 polishes from this collection and it’s a lovely combo folks!
It’s so shiny on its own that I decided not to use top coat over it in the following swatches, though you should definitely add top coat when you’re wearing this to make your manicure last longer.
Care To Danse? with Pirouette My Whistle.
You Callin’ Me A Lyre? with Pirouette My Whistle.
Barre My Soul with Pirouette My Whistle.
Don’t Touch My Tutu! with Pirouette My Whistle.
My Pointe Exactly with Pirouette My Whistle.
OPI is kicking butt and taking names in the jelly polish department. The formula on each and every one of these was AMAZING. They were thicker than your normal sheer polishes but not so thick that it caused leveling issues. I actually preferred doing thicker coats with these polishes for more color payoff. The dry time was incredibly fast on all 6 polishes, and they were all so shiny that top coat wasn’t even necessary.
I can’t really name a favorite because I loved them all! And I can’t wait to try using these for ‘glitter sandwich’ manicures! I also see this collection being great for the wedding season. ^_^
The NYC Ballet Soft Shades 2012 Collection by OPI retails for around $8.50 per .5 fl oz bottle of polish. They can be purchased at your local professional salons and spas nationwide. You an also purchase them at larger chain salons, including (but not limited to) JCPenny, Dillards, Regis, Pure Beauty, Trade Secret, and Ulta.
* The product(s) in this post were sent to me for unbiased review consideration.
Happy Valentines Day Everyone!
Holy cow, it’s been quite a while since my last post and I definitely missed you gals (and guys!)! Working midnight shift on top of my apprenticeship at the salon has been kicking my butt. Last week I had a chapter test each day that I went in, and when I did have a chance to be home for more than a few minutes (and not studying) all I wanted to do was veg out or sleep.
I decided to brave a little sleep deprivation so I could at least give you all a holiday manicure for today. I wanted to do something fun, quick, and silly. My friend Jamie suggested that I do a manicure with domo-kuns (probably the most adorable made up monster in the world), and I decided to put a festive twist on it.
Valentine’s Day Domo-kun Mani
I remember seeing domo-kuns online a long LONG time ago involving a very inappropriate internet meme including domos chasing kittens (you may know what I’m referring to, hah!). They then resurfaced in a more mainstream way when Target made it their mascot for Halloween one year.
A few more shots for you all. I had wanted to add little hearts above their heads so it would look like little bows, but my nails weren’t long enough.
Polishes I Used:
Wet n Wild Megalast – Undercover
Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear – White On
A England – Perceval
SinfulColors – Time Off
I hope you all have a wonderful day, whether you’re celebrating with anyone or not.
My boyfriend and I don’t get too overly involved in Valentine’s Day celebrations. Our plan is to cook dinner together once I get done at the salon, then watch a movies and just veg out for the rest of the night. On the menu is pork chops with garlic & wine, and Chad says he makes a mean acorn squash so I’m pretty pumped about that. And part of me wants to make these frickin awesome looking chocolate domo-kun heart cookies to go with the theme of my nails.
We usually sneak in a small gift here or there. I got him something incredibly nerdy that he should enjoy. I would tell you all what it is but I’ll keep quiet on the off-chance that he decides to read my blog today.
I’m super excited to show you this collection today! I got my hands on the NerdLacquer Firefly Series minis a few weeks ago and I finally had time to swatch them yesterday. I’ve been drooling over pretty much EVERY NerdLacquer polish on Amanda Collier’s Etsy shop since early December. I even got a few of them for friends at Christmas time, but these are the first that I can call my own! You may not have realized this by now, but I am a super nerd and her polishes are right up my ally. As soon as my friend told me she’d released a collection based on the Serenity/Firefly series I pounced!
The sci-fi space western tv series Firefly and the accompanying movie Serenity are hands down one of my favorites and I am a super fangirl when it comes to that show/movie. I’ve lost track of how many times I’ve re-watched the series and the movie over the past 10 years (has it really been that long!?). So basically I’m a Browncoat for life!
Shiny. Let’s move right on to the swatches, shall we? I used Sally Hansen Nail Quencher Base Coat and Seche Vite top coat for my swatches today. I’m going to use Amanda’s descriptions for the polishes because they’re made of win and awesome. ^_^
GORRAMIT is a cantankerous golden yellow with silver and gold microglitter, gold glitter, medium square red glitter, and multiple sizes of copper and rust hexagonal glitter. A little feisty, but easy on the eyes, and quite opaque in two coats. Keep away from liquor, women, and firearms.
So I frickin LOVE this polish! It’s such a beautiful goldenrod yellow and I have nothing like this in my collection. *le swoon* And true to her word, I barely needed 2 coats to reach opacity. And even with the glitter party going on in this polish Gorramit applied like buttah!
Look at this macro. Click on this macro. Die happy. Favorite. Yellow. EVER. ♥
SHINY is a clear sky blue with sapphire shift, silver and white microglitter, ultrafine opalescent blue glitter, multiple sizes of silver hex glitter, plus medium square white and silver glitter. It’s spacey, it’s cool, it’s synonymous with “fine,” and it’s very shiny indeed. Quite opaque in two coats, and surprisingly smooth with a single layer of top coat.
Shiny was pretty sheer for me, I had to use 3 coats to reach the level of opacity I preferred. And the square glitter was being difficult at first. But after I inverted the bottle for 15 minutes and scraped the inside down with a toothpick to loosen the glitter from the bottle that did the trick! The things we do for polish.
Here’s your macro shot of Shiny. You’re gonna need to enlarge this one too. The shimmer is gorgeous! I didn’t even notice it until I had it on my nails and I was floored by how pretty it is. I may try layering Shiny over a pale blue next time I wear it for a different look.
I Aim To Misbehave
I AIM TO MISBEHAVE is a deep plummy wine base with silver microglitter, medium bronze hexagonal glitter, silver and garnet red glitter and ultra fine bronze glitter, plus a slight blue-shift shimmer. It might seem a little naughty or difficult to get along with, but it’s really pretty easy going. Note that this shade is a gorram glitter bomb, so go heavy with the top coat.
She is NOT kidding about this polish being a hungry glitter. The swatches above are with two thick coats of Seche Vite. I tried to use just one coat of SV and it was gritty at hell. This is 2 coats of polish.
You know the drill, enlarge this macro folks! I Aim To Misbehave is just so darn pretty! It’s totally worth the effort to make it smooth. I couldn’t stop staring at the fine multi-colored glitter. It felt like I had jewels encrusted into my nails!
Here’s a photo of I Aim To Misbehave with just one coat of Seche Vite. Grity City folks, definitely un-shiny. I’m glad I ended up adding a 2nd coat of TC because I was ready to write this one off as a ‘meh’.
Ever since I got my one friend her mini quad gift set for Christmas she has been hooked, now after trying the polishes myself I can totally see why. Do you have to guess? I love, love, LOVE, these polishes! They are close to my fangirl heart and I’m happy I was able to get my hands on them. The names are great, the colors are unique and the formulas are superb. So basically I’m gonna need MOAR NerdLacquer polishes in the immediate future. I’ve got my eyes on her Flying Circus Collection next.
I purchased my 5ml minis as part of the boxed mini quad set, which I think cost $12.00 for 4 mini bottles of polish. You can purchase her regular 15ml bottles of polish for $8.00 each from NerdLacquer’s Etsy Shop, or for $10.00 each from Harlow & Co. She restocks pretty frequently on her Etsy shop so I check (read as STALK) that page pretty regularly for updates. I think Katie from Harlow & Co. is due to receive more inventory in February. ^_^
