Just got back from seeing The Hunger Games and overall I really enjoyed it! They made a few changes that didn’t thrill me (the mutts and PG-13 rating), but that’s to be expected with a book adaption. Anyway, why don’t you all head on over to Fashion Polish to check out the awesome konadicure that I did for Sam! You can view it by clicking on the photo above or by using this link right [HERE]!

Happy Wednesday Everyone!
I can’t believe this is the last day of the 31 Day Challenge!! It’s gone by so fast, and it’s been amazing sharing this experience with two bloggers I’ve admired even before I had my own blog! It’s been great having Cris and Sammy to run ideas by, share frustrations with, and shoot endless tweets to my heart’s content. This challenge forced me to push my boundaries and gave me a new love and appreciation for nail art! I loved it before, but I love it even more now that I know I’m not horrible at it. So I’ll pretty much cherish this fo-evah! If you missed any of the previous days, I have them all tucked away [HERE] for you to view them at a glance. ^_^
For the last day we wanted to do something extra special. Our challenge for Day 31 was to re-create our favorite challenge. So we each picked out a mani from the other two girls that we loved and did our best to recreate the looks. ^_^
Day 31: Re-Create Your Favorite Challenge (Sammy – Studded Nails)
Sammy did this kick-ass mani for her Day 25: Inspired By Fashion look. She took the inspiration from the Studded Sheath Dress by Michael Kors. As soon as I saw this on her nails I was in love and I knew I had to recreate it for today’s challenge . It reminds me of sexy studded black boots or a slick leather belt. ♥
I marched my butt down to the local Michael’s Arts & Crafts store and managed to find the little gold studs/bullion (in the scrapbooking section), brought ‘em home and went to work. I used Wet n Wild’s Black Creme as my base. Sam also wrote a great FAQ that helped me out a lot when I recreated this manicure.
I really REALLY love this manicure. I didn’t wear mine for the whole day since I still had another mani to create, but I’ll definitely be sporting this edgy design in the future. Thanks Sam for this awesome idea! ♥♥
Day 31: Re-Create Your Favorite Challenge (Cris – Animal Print)
How cool is this?! Cris did this beautiful gradient manicure for her Day 13: Animal Print nail challenge. I love the vibrant colors and the hint of holographic sparkle. I wish I owned a pair of the awesome technicolor flip-flops in her post, those things are awesome! Is anyone else reminded of Lisa Frank from back in the day?
I didn’t have the exact same polishes that Cris used but I did my best trying to keep things in the same color family. I used a LOT of different colors for this manicure and I spaced out when it came to writing them down. Since I don’t have INM Northern Lights Hologram top coat I ended up using China Glaze’s Wireless Holographic top coat instead, so the holo shimmer is finer in my mani. I also NEED the m78 plate in my life! I used my m57 plate for this manicure.
Macro shots of my two favorite color transitions. You’re gonna want to enlarge these two. Actually, backtrack to the first picture of the studded mani and enlarge all these photos ’cause they’re all splendiferous.
And there you have it, the end of the 31 Day Challenge! It’s going to take me some time to get used to regular swatching and reviews now that I’m done, hah! I want to thank everyone that watched me go through this from Day 1, and anyone that joined in midway to watch my progress as well. This has been a blast and I hope it inspires some of you to start your own 31 Day Challenge in the future! ♥
And we’re back again for day 15 of the 31 Day Challenge! Today’s task is Delicate Print, and I had a heck of a time trying to figure out what to do with this one. My hand drawn nail art abilities are still hit or miss and I really don’t have that many stamping plates to play with just yet. So I decided to wing it with my trusty m57 plate. There are two intricate patterns on the plate that I believe are intended for french tips. I used the two together to make a mehndi-esque design.
Day 15: Delicate Print
I started out with two coats of Wagon Trail by China Glaze. Wagon Trail is my absolute favorite nail polish by China Glaze. It’s a vampy, rich, blackened olive green filled with golden shimmer. Amazing, right?! I then used A-England’s Holy Grail (a beautifully regal gold polish I have yet to review) for my stamping plate. I’m actually pretty pleased that it came out looking better than I expected, and both of my roommates really enjoyed the finished look. They said it reminded them of a henna tattoo.
I personally don’t think that I could have picked a better pair of complimentary colors for this manicure today. Holy Grail looks absolutely stunning layered over Wagon Trail. I messed up the patterned a bit on one or two nails, but it almost looks like I did it on purpose and you really can’t tell unless you’re looking super close.
And speaking of close-up views, here’s your daily dose of macros. Bon Appétit!
That’s all I’ve got for today, tomorrow is the dreaded Tribal Nail Art challenge. My konad stamps won’t be able to save me this time.
We’re at the start of a new week and we’re quickly approaching the halfway point for the 31 Day Challenge. Today is all about Flowers, and since there’s no way I can draw that freehand I decided to use my handy-dandy
notebook m57 plate.
I started out with two coats of Nite Owl by Orly, a beautiful nude taupe filled with silver micro-shimmer. I then took the floral print on my m57 stamp and layered Barry M’s Spring Green (bright grass green creme) and A-England’s Galahad (teal creme). I love the way this turned out!
Day 14: Flowers
I think this look is so gorgeous! The softness of Nite Owl is a wonderful backdrop for the brightness of Galahad and Spring Green. I messed up the stamp on my middle finger a teeny bit and tried to free paint a green flower in its place. Yeah…. No Bueno.
In this macro shot you can see the soft merge of colors between Galahad and Spring Green. You can also check out the buttload of silver glitter in Nite Owl. This whole manicure is super feminine and I love it! It reminds me of being on a beach.
That’s it for today’s manicure. Come back tomorrow for Day 15, which will be delicate print day!
Today is day 13 of the 31 Day Challenge (Animal Print). This is going to be a quickie post because I am running low on time today. I kept it simple, I used the m57 tiger pattern to layer Konad Special Polish in White over 3 thin coats of Pool Party by Essence. I LOVE Pool Party, it’s a beautiful cheery blue filled with glass flecks. And y’all know I love glass flecks.
Day 13: Animal Print
This was a bit of a rush job and I smudged my pinky and pointed finger a bit, but overall I think this stamping worked out pretty well. I always come back to this tiger print stamp, it’s so versatile!
Pool Party on its own. I had a lemming for this polish for a long time and I’m glad I was finally able to get my hands on this gorgeous blue. It really does look like a reflective pool of water.
Happy Saturday Everyone!
We’re on Day 6 of the 31 Day Challenge now, and it’s all about Violet Nails today! I wanted to do something a little out of my comfort zone today to try to start easing myself into the weeks to come, so I busted out my m57 konad stamping plate… And kinda blundered this manicure. This is my third time ever using my konad stamp so I’m still working out the user error. After two attempts at getting the stamp perfectly placed on my nails I gave up for the day. You still get the general idea of what I was trying to do, right?
NARS Purple Rain & China Glaze Avalanche
I started out with two coats of NARS Purple Rain, a gorgeous deep purple with pink and blue shimmer. Purple Rain is a very close dupe for China Glaze Let’s Groove, I’ll have to do a comparison post in the future. ^_^ Then I stamped China Glaze Avalanche over the top and sealed everything up with a coat of Seche Vite. Avalanche is incredibly frosty and is hell to work with on its own, but it’s really great to use for stamping! The boyfriend’s mom gifted Avalanche to me because she knows how much I fangirl for China Glaze. One of these days I WILL swatch my entire CG collection for you all, but that will be a project for another day.
Here’s a shot of the color combo with flash, you can see the blue and pink shimmer really well in this photo. Click the image to enlarge it to its original size for an even better look.
Annnnnnnd a macro of the only nail I stamped [almost] perfectly. Let’s pretend like the rest of my nails look this good.
That’s it for Day 6! From now on we’re getting into more of the tricky stuff, tomorrow is Black & White nails!
Happy Saturday Everyone!
I received my Konad stamping kit in the mail earlier this week and I immediately had to try it out. My first attempt was to do a gradient with a stamping pattern over it. I quickly remembered that I’m not very good at free-hand nail art, so that was a huge fail. After that I decided to keep it simple and chose the leopard spot stamp from the m57 plate. I think I did a pretty darn good for never using the Konad system before. Onto the pictures!!
I recently got overzealous with my nail filing and brought them down to super short nubbins, so bear with me as they grow back out. I used the white Konad special stamping polish that came with my kit for the spots, What Do You Think? by Essence for my base color, and Rouge Andalou by NARS for filling in the leopard spot pattern.
Here’s a picture of both hands, mostly because I wanted to test out the self timer on my camera and also to show of my favorite opal ring.
Here’s a close up of the m57 plate, it’s got quite a few nice patterns on it so I’ll have to play around with it more. I want to use the french tip ones once my nails grow up a bit.
Here’s What Do You Think? all by itself. It’s a nice peachy coral by Essence that I got as part of one of my blog sale buys. ^_^ This is two coats. What Do You Think? is a dupe for Chanel’s Orange Fizz, so that killed a lemming for me and I spent a fraction of the $25 Chanel price tag.
I enjoyed my first experience with Konad stamping. I think it’s a fairly quick and easy way to spice up your manicure. I have to experiment with it and see which regular nail polishes work well with the system, but I think that will be part of the fun. ^_^
