The Return Of NerdLacquer!! Swatches of The Eye, TDBSLWCHSHITD, and All of Time and Space!

Diptic

Morning Lovelies!

I honestly didn’t think I would ever be able to say this, but… NERDLACQUER IS BACK Y’ALL!! :D I’m so SO thrilled to have Amanda of NerdLacquer back in the indie space. I certainly missed her gorgeous nerdling nail polishes. My first indie nail polishes I ever bought were NerdLacquers back when she had first created her teeny Etsy shop before the indie polish boom. She’d suddenly disappeared one day due to personal life circumstances (which you can read about [HERE] if you have a Google+ account), and I faithfully and patiently hoped for and awaited her return. I’m so so so happy that once again I have to chance to get ALL THE THINGS from her portion of the indie nail polish world. :D

No joke, I set an alarm to be ready for when she opened her shop for the first time again in almost a year. She had new pretties based on LOTR and I NEEDED THEM. But as I was adding things to my cart it looked as if the two polishes I had eyed up had sold out from under me. Kick dirt, there’s always next time right? So I ended up snagging All of Time and Space, one of her polishes that I’d been lusting after for about a year, and I was content. Fast forward to a week or so later and not only does that one show up, but the two LOTR collection polishes I’d been after were in my package too! I thought at first, WOW, she must have used magic psychic powers and known that I’d wanted those and included them for me. HOW COOL!

But see-what-had-happened-was… That I had already bought them via paypal, but forgotten about it in my panicked nail polish shopping frenzy. Derp. ;) Well, I’m happy that in my blackout I managed to snag ‘em so let’s get to showing them!

The Eye

NerdLacquer - The Eye 1
NerdLacquer - The Eye 2
NerdLacquer - The Eye 3
The Eye is a cayenne red-orange jelly packed with black, orange, gold, red, and holographic glitter. It’s based on (you guessed it…) The Eye of Sauron from the Lord of the Rings trilogy. This is definitely my favorite of her newbies and the one I was after the most. The application was great and I only needed 2 coats for opacity!
NerdLacquer - The Eye 4
I love that Amanda included THE EYE on the top of my bottle. Anyone else get one on theirs? :D

TDBSLWCHSHITD

NerdLacquer - TDBSLWCHSHITD 1
NerdLacquer - TDBSLWCHSHITD 2
NerdLacquer - TDBSLWCHSHITD 3
TDB… OMG the name on this one!! O__O TDBSLWCHSHITD stands for “THE DWARF BREATHES SO LOUD WE COULD HAVE SHOT HIM IN THE DARK” according to Amanda’s description on her shop page. Once I read that it made me lol heartily. I wasn’t sure how I would like this one but after seeing it in person I’m sold.

I’m just gonna drop the rest of her description here because it’s made of win:

“Soft gold-flecked spring green of Lothlorien. A sunny green shimmer plus loads of white, golden, and leaf-green glitter on your fingertips will make you feel like you’re in Galadriel’s own garden…with a snotty elf making snide remarks about your lack of intrusion skills.”

I used 2 coats here. It was a little lumpy without top coat so keep that in mind if you prefer a smooth finish. The glitter likes to hide inside the base at times, so thin coats work best. ^_^

All of Time and Space

NerdLacquer - All Of Time and Space 1
NerdLacquer - All Of Time and Space 2
NerdLacquer - All Of Time and Space 3
And lastly, one of the classic NerdLacquer nail polishes that I had been lusting after since the beginning — All of Time and Space! This nail polish is beautiful! The Doctor Who themed AoTaS is an ethereal semi-sheer crystalline minty turquoise with silver shimmer, plus silver and fuchsia glitter. I used 3 coats here, but perhaps could have used a 4th to make sure my tips were fully covered. I cannot wait to layer this with my baby blue and pale greens! Or maybe purple to match with my purple version of one of my favorite hoodies from Threadless!

That’s all I’ve got for you today! I hope you all enjoyed my mini NerdLacquer spam! I actually have 2 or 3 more that I’ve yet to share with you on the blog. I must get around to correcting that, eh? ;)

And for those that want to stay updated on NerdLacquer releases, looks like the only sure-fire way to get updates directly from Amanda herself is to follow her on NerdLacquer’s Google+ Page. You can also randomly stalk her e-shop, nerdlacquer.com for updates like I do. :P I am almost positive that she is restocking TODAY at 3pm CST!!

I do know that both Harlow & Co. and Ninja Polish plan to begin stocking NerdLacquer nail polishes again soon, so it might be in your best interest to (politely!!) e-stalk these gals too. ;)

Review: Pretty and Polished Happy Holodays Duo!

2

Allo Everyone!

So we’re going to be going on a Pretty and Polished adventure for the next few days! AKA, I have a TON of new Pretty and Polished lovelies that I’ve been collecting for the past few weeks that I need to share with you all before I burst, haha! First up today is the Pretty and Polished Happy Holodays Duo! This duo consists of Ruby (a scattered holo jelly) and an un-named green/red holo glitter top coat.

Pretty and Polished – Happy Holodays Duo

Pretty & Polished - Happy Holodays Duo (Red and Green Holo Glitter) 4
IT’S A WRAP FOLKS. Stick a fork in me cause I’m done! This is SUCH a winning holiday combo! The glitter topper (renamed Holy Sh*t! by yours truly) is a gorgeous mix of green and red hex glitter in a clear base, with some of the glitters being holographic. I immediately turned to my boyfriend and said “WELP. Holiday mani locked and loaded!” He knowledgeably agreed. ;)

Shown here is 2 coats of the glitter topper over Ruby. Super easy formula to work with AND LOOK AT THAT MACRO. ♥
Pretty & Polished - Happy Holodays Duo (Ruby) 2
Pretty & Polished - Happy Holodays Duo (Ruby) 3
Pretty & Polished - Happy Holodays Duo (Ruby) 4
And here’s the base polish Ruby on its own, a gorgeous cranberry red scattered holographic jelly. I literally squealed out loud when I put this on my nails. It’s so damn pretty, and super pigmented! This is just 2 coats! And there was no staining after I took it off. Hai nails, me my new favorite red jelly polish! Formula was perfection as well, it wasn’t runny at all and Ruby practically painted itself on my nails. ^_^

Final Thoughts:

Everything that is Christmas, and Santa, and evergreen, and winter lived in these two bottles of polish. But for reals, I have been a fan of Pretty and Polish for over a year now. She knows her stuff and her polishes are pretty fantastic folks. In my opinion, the Happy Holodays Duo are definite must-haves for the holiday/holoday season! ^_^

Purchase Info:

The Pretty and Polished Happy Holodays Duo can be purchased from Chels Marie’s new shop, www.shopprettyandpolished.com. The price of the duo starts at $9.00 for the minis and goes up from there. You can also still find Pretty and Polished on her Etsy Shop.

Takko Lacquer Winter Collection 2012 – With A Surprise!

5

Takko Lacquer Holiday_Winter 2012

Afternoon Ladies!

I have two blog posts for you today because I really wanted you all to have a chance to take a gander at these beauties before Sheryl re-opened her shop on Friday! I am pleased to introduce you to the Takko Lacquer Winter Collection! I’m on a glorious cocktail of cold meds so I’ll keep this intro short and sweet, so let’s get right into the swatches! :-P

We’re All Mad Here

Takko Lacquer - We're All Mad Here 5
Takko Lacquer - We're All Mad Here 2
Takko Lacquer - We're All Mad Here 3
OMG Y’all. We’re All Mad Here is flippin GORGEOUS!! Plus its name is a nod to Alice in Wonderland, what’s not to love here?! We’re All Mad Here is a stunning deep blue jelly with green flakies and orange shimmer. I mean… WOW. Pictures really don’t do this one justice, you NEED to see it in person. We’re All Mad Here is a slightly deeper blue than what my camera was able to pick up, and the shimmer is noticeable in even low light! Take the shimmer you see in my photos and intensify it (closer to what it looks like inside the bottle), and that’s what you get in person. :-D

This is 3 coats. You see a teeny bit of VNL in these shots but it’s not that noticeable in person. You could get away with 2 coats if you didn’t mind a little VNL. Application was a breeze, this polish spread like butter over my nails and built up nicely.

A few more shots of We’re All Mad Here with a macro so you can take in that glorious orange shimmah! ♥

Va Va Voom

Takko Lacquer - Va Va Voom 1
Takko Lacquer - Va Va Voom 2
Takko Lacquer - Va Va Voom 5
Va Va Voom is a metallic deep wine red with strong scattered/mild linear holo finish. I DIE! The color and holo effect deepen depending on your lighting but the holographic finish is visible in almost all lighting. Shown above is Va Va Voom in direct light from my light box. This is 2 thin coats! Va Va Voom had a perfect formula. Not too thin but not so thick that I had trouble applying it. The dry time was very quick!

Takko Lacquer - Va Va Voom 3
Takko Lacquer - Va Va Voom 4
And here it is with indirect lightbox er… lighting. :P
Takko Lacquer - Va Va Voom (Flash)
And this is Va Va Voom with camera flash. If any nail polish deserves its name, this is it! Look how intense the red is now! I cannot wait until I get a chance to see Va Va Voom in direct sunlight, I think I might never take it off. ;)

Introducing Takko Mani-Bombs!

Takko Lacquer Mani-Bombs
And here’s the surprise I mentioned in my post title, introducing Takko Lacquer Mini-Bombs! These little beauties were created by Sheryl as a thank you for all the love and support the nail polish world has shown her since she opened her Etsy shop doors earlier this year. If you’re familiar with bath fizzies/bath bombs, this is a similar idea. But these mani-bombs are all about caring for your beautiful hands. You drop it in a container filled with warm water large enough to fit your hands, and it fizzes up almost immediately. Then the magic begins. ;)

The mani-bombs release Vitamin E and Aloe Vera to nourish your skin, cuticles and nails. It then leaves behind a Shea Butter and sugar scrub combo that you use to scrub, exfoliate and moisturize your skin, help with peeling nails and dry cuticles. I used one of the mani-bombs before I swatched We’re All Mad Here and Va Va Voom. They have a very light powdery scent, it’s almost undetectable. I couldn’t smell it but I also have a cold. My boyfriend said it smelled nice though, so it shouldn’t overpower your lotions or perfumes. ^_^ My hands felt absolutely amaaazing afterward. The sugar scrub was very gentle, and once I rinsed off the leftover scrub the shea butter was easy to massage into the skin on my hands (and elbows, hah!) and my cuticles. It absorbed into my skin after a few minutes and didn’t leave any greasy residue. I’m sold!

And you want to hear the best news about the mani-bombs?

They’re FREE!

As a thank you for all of her customers, Sheryl will be including one mani-bomb as a free gift with each purchase for the rest of 2012! This will start on Friday, November 16th. :-D
Takko Lacquer New vs Old Label
And one last miscellaneous photo for you all. It looks like there was a slight label change! On the right (Kiss The Sky), you can see the old slightly rounded frosted label and on the left (We’re All Mad Here) you have the new clear rectangular labels. Nothing drastic, just something I noticed! ^_^

Final Thoughts:

Sheryl never ceases to amaze me with everything that she has to offer. She seriously produces some of the best indie nail polishes out there in my opinion, and she is such a sweetheart! So if you hadn’t guessed yet, I absolutely adore both of Sheryl’s new babies. We’re All Mad Here combines several of my nail polish loves: blue, green, orange, flakies, and jelly! The list of red polishes that I love is pretty small, but Va Va Voom has a place on that list now because it is EVERYTHING. Perfect formula, a gorgeous rust hue and holographic finish. Be still my heart. I really can’t pick a favorite so you basically need both of these suckers. ;)

And the mani-bombs are perfect and just in time for the winter months that always take a toll on my nails and skin. I hope you all enjoy them as much as I do! Sheryl will be including instructions on how to use them in each package since they’re a little different from a typical bath bomb.

Purchase Info:

Takko Lacquer nail polishes can be purchased at the Takko Lacquer Etsy Shop! They retail at $15.00 per .5 fl oz bottle of polish. She DOES offer international shipping! Check out her shop policy page for more details on that.

Another great thing is that she restocks often, usually about once a week. So if you missed one sale you have another chance to snag your favorites the following week! She’s opening up her shop again this weekend on Friday, November 16th at around 1pm so mark your calendars! :)

To keep up to date with restocking news and other updates you can follow the Takko Lacquer Blog, the Etsy Shop or her new Twitter account!

31 Day Challenge 2012: Day 15 – Delicate Print!

4

Hey Everyone!

I apologize for this post being WAY late, but this past weekend I got absolutely SWAMPED with work and I simply had no time to do my nails! I powered through Monday night to catch up to Sam and Cris and cranked out designs for Days 13-15 of the 31 Day Challenge 2012 that I’d missed last week. I’m posting them all for you today! ^_^

31 Day Challenge 2012 Day 15 – Delicate Print

31DC2012 Day 15 Delicate Print 2
31DC2012 Day 15 Delicate Print 3
I used my all time favorite red, A England Perceval and layered A England Camelot over it with my Bundle Monster stamp BM-201. My boyfriend really loved how this one looked. ^_^

That’s it for now! Next up is Day 16 later this morning! :-D

31 Day Challenge 2012: Day 9 – Rainbow Nails!!

15

Morning Everyone!

I hope you’re all having a great week so far! I have one more night of work and then I have the rest of October off! I’m excited to have a mini break and just become a vegetable at home. And perhaps venture out a time or two for Halloween festivities! For those that celebrate, any of you have fun plans for the extended Halloweekend? And what are your costume plans?! I love hearing about what other people are going to do for the holiday. ^_^

Also I wanted to thank everyone that voted for my Bundle Monster Fright Night contest entry, BECAUSE I MADE IT AS ONE OF THE 13 FINALISTS!! :-D You can see the other finalists [HERE]. The guest judges are picking the winners some time today, and even if I don’t place I’m still happy to have made it as far as I did because there were some amazing entries for the contest. :-P

Today is Day 9 of the 31 Day Challenge 2012, and the prompt is rainbow nails. I don’t know why, but this is my least favorite prompt of the entire challenge (swiftly followed by ‘Inspired by a Color”, I’m still wtf-ing at that one). Last year I did Nyan Cat (which I loved, even though my cat looked a little… off) but this year I was just so uninspired. I did eventually figure something out so without further ado…

31 Day Challenge 2012 Day 9 – Rainbow Nails!

31DC2012 Day 9 - Rainbow Nails 1
31DC2012 Day 9 - Rainbow Nails 2
31DC2012 Day 9 - Rainbow Nails 3
I called myself trying to keep things “simple” with a rainbow skittle manicure. I wanted to do the Fishtail Braid as an accent nail because I figured that doing it on just one nail would save time. Too bad this still took me THREE FRICKIN’ HOURS with having to wait between coats to dry… :-( Even 12 hours later my stupid ring finger is still dentable. I love the look of Fishtail Braid manicures, and this one turned out better than my last attempt… But I doubt I will ever do this ish again unless I’m using quick dry nail polishes. :-P

Nail Polishes I Used:
Dermelect Head Turner (pointer finger)
Sally Hansen Lightening
(thumb and ring finger)
OPI Red Lights Ahead… Where?
(middle and ring finger)
Color Club Insta-This
(pinky and ring finger)
OPI A Roll In The Hague
(ring finger)
Rescue Beauty Lounge Mismas
(ring finger)
Essie Pretty Edgy
(ring finger)
China Glaze Wireless Holographic Top Coat

31DC2012 Day 9 - Rainbow Nails 4
31DC2012 Day 9 - Rainbow Nails 5
I’m glad I decided to add the holographic top coat because I really think it ties everything together nicely. For the fishtail braid accent nail I just carefully free-handed the lines because I am just entirely too impatient for tape manicures. I always end up peeling off half my nail polish in the process. :-P
31DC2012 Day 9 - Rainbow Nails 6
31DC2012 Day 9 - Rainbow Nails 7
31DC2012 Day 9 - Rainbow Nails 8
And a few more shots with my rarely seen thumb. My nails are getting pretty long again, eh? I think I’ll keep them long-ish at least to the end of the challenge since it gives me a better work space for nail art. ^_^

I’m almost tempted to grow them super long and shape them into stilettos just for shiggles before I file them down after the challenge is done. 8O

Well that’s all she wrote for today everyone! The next challenge day is this Saturday and it’s gradient nails! I cannot wait to show you what I have in store for that day! ^_^

Don’t forget to check out  Sam and Cris’s blogs to see their Day 9 rainbow nails.

31 Day Challenge 2012: Day 1 Red Nails

12

Morning Everyone!

Today marks the first day of the 31 Day Challenge 2012 that I’m doing with Sam and Cris! Day 1 is all about red nails, which is probably my least worn color in my collection. But it gives me another excuse to try some nail art that I’ve had on my Pinterest boards for days weeks months. :-P I decided to attempt the Running Gradient by Katy of Nailed It. ^_^

31DC2012 Day 1 – Red Nails

Day 1 Red Nails - 1
I wanted to play with some of my Rescue Beauty Lounge pretties, and I just happened to have three shades of untried reds in my stash! I started off with 3 thin coats of RBL Pizzicato, which is actually more of a pale shimmery lavender than red but shush. ;-)
Day 1 Red Nails - 4
Then I used a thin nail brush to randomly swipe RBL Poppy on the middle third of my nails. Poppy is seriously one of my favorite polishes in my collection. It is AMAZING as a pedicure! :-D
Day 1 Red Nails - 2
And finally, I used RBL Killa Red on the lower third of my nails. It has a jelly finish that I wasn’t expecting so I had to do a few layers to make it more opaque. I think I brought this one up a little too high on my nails and next time I try this look I want more of the 2nd layer of polish to show through. ^_^

Day 1 Red Nails - 3
This gradient reminds me of cave chalk drawings of flames, haha! I want to try this look in ALL the colors. :-D

Well that’s it for my Day 1 look! What do you guys think? The first week of the challenge always leaves me in a bit of a daze but after a while my creative brain finally kicks in. :-P

And as a reminder, after today our 31 Day Challenge 2012 posting schedule will be Saturday, Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday each week. So Day 2 (Orange Nails) will be this Saturday, October 13th. Don’t forget to head on over to Sam and Cris’s blogs to see what they’ve come up with for their Day 1 Nails!!

NOTD: Sally Hansen Lustre Shine Lava!!

10

Morning Everyone!

I found the Sally Hansen Lustre Shine collection fairly recently at my local Walgreens and I was so excited! I remember seeing the promo pics and being SUPER pumped to get my hands on these bad boys! And then I saw them in person and I was…. Honestly a little disappointed. Most of the polishes did not look as vibrant and multi-chromatic as their promo photos. And at least one of them looks to be a Peridot dupe or cousin. Plus Walgreens is charging $9.00 per .33 fl oz bottle! Sorry but I am not about the business of spending that much money on a drug store brand. :|

I walked away from them for the time being, determined to find swatches online before I dropped that much cash on them. The Polished Mommy’s comparison post was a life-saver for me because it debunked the myth that this collection are dupes for the China Glaze New Bohemian collection (with the exception of SH Scarab which is a dead on dupe for China Glaze Defiantly Daring that I already own). After sleeping on it overnight I decided to go back and get Lava (which is NOT a MAC Bad Fairy dupe people!!). I’ll probably only go back for Firefly and Copperhead once I can find them cheaper at a different store. And rumor has it that there are 2 more colors yet to be released, so we’ll see what those look like when they surface.

Sally Hansen Lustre Shine – Lava

Sally Hansen Lustre Shine - Lava
Sally Hansen Lustre Shine - Lava
Sally Hansen Lustre Shine - Lava
Sally Hansen Lustre Shine Lava is a reddish-pink-orange-gold multi-chrome. It’s a little on the sheer side so I needed 3 coats of Lava on its own to reach opacity. I love that you can build it up on its own and I’m sure the color shift would be even more prominent if it was layered over black!
Sally Hansen Lustre Shine - Lava
Sally Hansen Lustre Shine - Lava
I heard some stories from people on Instagram about Lava showing near-instant tip wear when layered over black, so you might want to be extra careful with wrapping the tips of your nails when you wear this one. I only wore it briefly for swatching purposes so I don’t know a wear time for this one. And really, wear time can vary from person to person depending on body chemistry and your TC/BC combination.
Sally Hansen Lustre Shine - Lava
And here’s a macro shot, soooooooo preeeeeetttyyyyy! :-D

I’m honestly happy that I went back to snag this one, but I’m still mad that I paid $9 for it! :-P I’m hoping that once these start popping up at Target, Walmart, etc that I’ll see a price drop and I can snag a few more from the Sally Hansen Lustre Shine line.

Review: Contrary Polish Swatches!

13

Contrary Polish Bottle Shots

Morning Everyone!

Today I’ve got Contrary Polish swatches to share with the class. :-P This is another Indie line that is brand new to me. These lovely polishes arrived with my EPIC nail mail from Llarowe. I’m still slowly working my way though that pile, haha!

I’m pretty excited about these polishes because they’re another Indie brand that has stepped out of the glitter market. All six of the polishes I was sent for review are gorgeous jelly or jelly-creme hybrid shimmers! Let’s move on to the swatches shall we? :-D

Gilded Oak

Gilded Oak 1
Gilded Oak 2
Gilded Oak 3
Gilded Oak is a gorgeous ‘plummy brown with golden shimmer’. I love the depth here! It has a thin formula but it’s easy to work with. I used 3 thin coats for opacity. Just look at the shimmer in that macro shot!! ♥

Firebrand

Firebrand 1
Firebrand 2
Firebrand 3
Firebrand is my kind of red! She’s a deep raspberry jelly (YASSS) with red, orange and pink shimmer. Amazing formula, and again easy to work with. Since it’s a jelly finish, make sure you’re waiting a few minutes between coats to avoid cuticle drag. This is 3 coats.

Purple Smoke

Purple Smoke 1
Purple Smoke 2
Purple Smoke 3
Purple Smoke is described as a ‘blue grey with purple and blue shimmer’. This one has a jelly-creme hybrid finish, my favorite kind! I love the subtle shimmer in this one. This is 3 coats.

Bright Night

Bright Night 1
Bright Night 2
Bright Night 3
Bright Night is a ‘deep blue jelly with aqua and silver shimmer’. I am a sucker for these blue jelly/shimmer combos, so I obviously love this one. Anything that even remotely reminds me of the much sought after Essie Starry Starry Night is a win in my books. This is 3 coats. There’s a little VNL so you’ll probably need to layer this or do 4 coats to reach full opacity.

Inky Fingers

Inky Fingers 1
Inky Fingers 2
Inky Fingers 3
Inky Fingers is a gorgeous polish! This one is a blurple (blue/purple) jelly-creme hybrid with blue and green shimmer. It’s absolutely stunning and I love that the shimmer shows up in almost all light settings. ^_^

I used 3 coats here, but I would have been able to get away with 2 if I’d waited a bit between coats.

Creeping Moss

Creeping Moss 1
Creeping Moss 2
Creeping Moss 3
Creeping Moss is Fall in a bottle! This one is described as ‘olive green with pink and copper shimmer’, but it looks more brown with olive green undertones to me. Whatever color it is, I frickin LOVE it! This one has the thinnest formula of them all but still reached opacity at 3 coats. ^_^

Final Thoughts:

Wow! What’s not to love about these polishes!? Shimmer and jelly-creme formulas are at the top of my favorite polish finish list, so these beauties by Contrary Polish really hit the spot for me! It’s hard to name a favorite, but if I had to choose my top picks would be and Creeping Moss, Gilded Oak, Firebrand and Inky Fingers since they are the most unique to my polish collection.

Purchase Info:

You can purchase full sized bottles of Contrary Polish through Llarowe. They retail at $11.00 per 15ml bottle of polish.

For mini bottles and invoicing for custom orders, you can contact Carrie at the Contrary Polish blog. You can also find updates and news on upcoming collections there too, as well as the Contrary Polish Facebook Fanpage.

Contrary Polish is a 3-Free brand. :-)

OPI Fall 2012 Collection Comparison Swatches!!

21

Morning Everyone!

Here’s a few OPI Fall 2012 collection comparison swatches for you all. I’m not going to do a ton because Jen from The Polishaholic already did a PHENOMENAL comparison post that you can see [HERE]!

I’ll just be including some requested comparisons and a few that I think will benefit people including polishes that Jen did not feature in her post. ^_^

If anyone can think of some other polishes they’d like to see compared here, let me know in the comments section. If I own both polishes then I will update this post with swatches! :-D

If you missed my posts on the OPI Fall 2012 collections you can see them here:

OPI Every Month Is Oktoberfest vs. ANNY The Answer Is Love

ANNY 'The Answer Is Love' vs. OPI 'Every Month Is Oktoberfest'
Just by looking at bottle shots of these two I could tell that it was gonna be close! You can see swatches of The Answer Is Love [HERE]. Let’s take a look at the swatches. ^_^
ANNY 'The Answer Is Love' vs. OPI 'Every Month Is Oktoberfest'
ANNY 'The Answer Is Love' vs. OPI 'Every Month Is Oktoberfest'
Shown here is 2 coats of each. Not exact dupes, but very close! The shimmer in The Answer Is Love is a bit stronger with a more copper orange undertones. But to the naked eye there is barely a noticeable difference. Since the ANNY polish is not easily obtainable in the US, OPI’s Every Month Is Oktoberfest is your closest option if you are lemming after ANNY The Answer Is Love. ^_^

NOPI Mermaid For Each Other vs. Missha HRG01 vs. Peridot

Chanel Peridot vs NOPI Mermaid For Each Other vs Missha HRG01
Just by looking at the bottle shots here, you can already tell that NOPI Mermaid For Each Other (MFEO) is not another Peridot dupe (thankfully). I pulled out my bottle of Missha HRG01 because it looked pretty dang close.
Chanel Peridot vs NOPI Mermaid For Each Other vs Missha HRG01
Chanel Peridot vs NOPI Mermaid For Each Other vs Missha HRG01
Dupe City Bitch! Dupe, Dupe City B…. I’ll stop. ;-) Mermaid For Each Other (MFEO) and HRG01 are damn near identical! I used 2 coats of each and 3 coats of Peridot. You cannot tell them apart from the naked eye. The only thing that gives HRG01 away as being different is the horrific fake rose scent that they added to the polish. :-P

OPI Nein! Nein! Nein! OK Fine! vs. Essie Power Clutch

OPI Nein! Nein! Nein! Ok, Fine! vs Essie Power Clutch
I honestly thought that Essie Power Clutch (PC) and OPI Nein! Nein! Nein! Ok Fine! would be closer than this, but my eyes were apparently playing tricks on me. Definitely NOT dupes. 2 coats of each polish here.

Rimmel Lava Red vs. OPI German-icure

Rimmel Lava Red vs OPI Germanicure
Rimmel Lava Red vs OPI Germanicure (flash)
I remembered that I had my beloved Rimmel Lava Red in my collection. It’s a bit HTF these days so I wanted to see how OPI German-icure compared. Not dupes, German-icure is darker with more of a dried blood/brown tone to it than Lava Red. I personally think you need both. ;-)

OPI Deutsch You Want Me Baby vs. Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Orange Splash

OPI Deustch You Want Me Baby vs Sally Hansen Insta Dri Orange Splash
OPI Deustch You Want Me Baby vs Sally Hansen Insta Dri Orange Splash
I snagged a bottle of Sally Hansen Orange Splash from the same Fall 2012 display with In A Flurry. I couldn’t find any swatches of Orange Splash online but I figured it’s orange so I needed it. :-P Not a dupe like I was guessing for OPI Deutsch You Want Me Baby (DYWMB), but still gorgeous! Orange Splash is very much a Summer orange while DYWMB is all about the Fall. 2 coats of each polish here.

OPI Danke Shiny Red vs A England Perceval
A England Perceval is my absolute favorite garnet/jewel toned red. I wanted to see how OPI Danke Shiny Red compared. Not even close my friends. 2 coats of each. Danke Shiny Red is pretty, but Perceval just has more depth. ♥

OPI DS Luxurious vs. China Glaze Riveting

And saving my two favorites for last, DS Luxurious compared to China Glaze Riveting (another all time favorite). While these two are very close they are not dupes. DS Luxurious is a touch darker and has larger gold particles. Both are gorgeous. If you have one you don’t necessarily need the other, and Riveting is going to cost you less since it lacks the diamond dust that’s in the OPI DS line. 2 coats of each polish here. I love both and I’m glad I have both. ^_^

Thank you for checking out my comparison shots! If you can think of anything else you’d like to see me do comparisons with, please shoot me a message! I hope you also liked my incredible shrinking nail length, haha! These photos have been sitting for a bit and my talons have grown since then. I think I might file ‘em down to this length again though. Easier to type with. ;-)

Bottle Shots: Glitter Gal Nail Polish

4

Morning Everyone!

Happy Guild Wars Early Access Weekend for those that also pre-purchased the game like I did! :-D I’ve been waiting for this game to release since I first heard about them making it back in 2007! I was a huge fan of the first Guild Wars, and I’ve been enjoying all the Beta Weekend and Stress Test events for GW2 for the past few months. I might be a little quiet online for the next four days because I’ll be thoroughly lost in the wonderful world of Tyria. I’ve scheduled posts through next week! :-P

If anyone else will be playing this weekend, come find me in-game! My Guild Wars ID Tag is Nymeria4326. ^_^

And now back to the polish! I posted nail wheel swatches of these Glitter Gal nail polishes a loooooong time ago on Instagram. I’ve yet to actually swatch them on my nails, but in the meantime I hope you enjoy the bottle shots! ^_^
