Rescue Beauty Lounge - A Poem Collection

Greetings From Beyond…

Okay so not from beyond the veil or anything like that, but it HAS been at least 3 months since my last blog update! I’ve still been active on my Instagram but actual time and desire to post have been a huge struggle for me lately. My apologies, I will do my best to jumpstart my passion for blogging! And what better way to jump back into swatching headfirst than with the newest collection from Rescue Beauty!

Today I’ve got the Rescue Beauty Lounge A Poem collection to share with you lovely folks. This seven piece Winter 2014 collection consists of four creams, two glitter toppers and a partridge in a pear tree a gorgeous shimmer finish. Ji based this collection on the works of the poet Robert Frost.

“As soon as I read “Ghost House,” by Robert Frost (published on public domain), the colors
revealed themselves. It was as if I was physically walking along the patch of earth from the
poem. There are many layers in those verses that illuminate one’s soul; I’ve attempted to
translate this into layers of colors. This entire collection was curated by a harmony of hues
that go seamlessly hand in hand, including the glitters that can be layered with the opaque
colors to give depth and texture depending on one’s mood.

It’s rare for me to make four opaque colors in one collection, but these earthy palettes
ravished me, when I read the poem, these colors seduced me. The opaques themselves are
all demurely quiet, neutral and wearable, yet sophisticatedly pensive for all occasions and
seasons (my own version of the perfect little black dress).”

Here’s the preview video for the collection that was created by Ji, the lady behind the Rescue Beauty brand:

Forgotten Road

RBL Forgotten Road 1
RBL Forgotten Road 2
Forgotten Road: ”Forgotten Road: The snow has melted. A howling wind stamps, turns,
and tangos with the broken brown house too many times. In the morning after they part, a charcoal road,
faded over time, leads to the house yearning for companionship. In the slick asphalt road after the
rain, I found a charcoal opaque gray. It is the color of a deep gray river rock that fits perfectly
in your hand, the darkest shade of gray in the spectrum. A darker, moodier sister to Stormy”

Forgotten Road is described as a charcoal grey, but I swear that I see blurple undertones like crazy here! I absolutely love this one. The cream formula for Forgotten Road is solid. I was able to get full coverage with 1 medium coat! I did apply two thin coats for these swatches though. This one also has great shine.

The Mosses Mar

RBL The Mosses Mar 1
RBL The Mosses Mar 2
The Mosses Mar: ”The small creek sings and chatters, conversing with the busy birds
pecking away at nature’s supper. In between the brown house the wood has shed, there are
sage-colored mosses bursting up for their new eager, erratic life. This is the color of the
mosses in between stones or scattered deadwoods, parched and lightened by the sun,
almost identical to the underside of Aspen leaves when they tremble in the wind. (This is a
less yellow version of Diddy Mow 2.0)”

First of all, LOVE!! Green is my absolute favorite color so I was already slightly in love with The Mosses Mar before I even tried it. This beauty did not disappoint. I used 2 thin coats here, it was so incredibly glossy before I even added my topcoat!

Footpath

RBL Footpath 1
RBL Footpath 2
Footpath: ”After the incessant rain and flood, the yellowed-clay earth slowly recovers and
hardens. Unhurriedly, the path heals, baked by the sun. The earth, for a short while, forgets
and forgives its muddied past. The willow branches persistently swings, whispers, and sheds
its confetti of mustard-colored pollen, which blend to celebrate a marriage between two
earthy-yellow opaque hues. This earthened-yellow is truly mellow, wearable, and
surpassingly neutral. If you’re on the fence about wearing a bright yellow, this is a perfect
shade to ease into.”

Footpath… OH HEAVENS DO I LOVE THIS ONE!!! I know that a lot of people consider this to be a “fugly” color, but I am a sucker for murky mustard yellow and burnt oranges. Footpath seems to combine this with a gorgeous warm mustard yellow with orange undertones. The formula was superb!! Another careful 1-coater or 2 coats as I am showing here.

A Lonely House

RBL A Lonely House 1
RBL A Lonely House 2
A Lonely House: ”The sleepy night sky swallows up the last of the dim sunlight. Like a black
and white photograph from long ago, naked tree branches are covered in the snow that is
falling on the ground and the ubiquitous snow wins with a smirk. A brown, weathered,
broken wooden house remains, without any apparent light or life. Just there, content,
scattered, and waiting. Out of this friendless and disparaged landscape dwells the perfect
opaque brown. Like handsomely worn English saddle leather, a rich and lush one-coater.”

A Lonely House as not a color that I was expecting to love. I don’t often reach for brown nail polish, but once applied this one definitely won me over. A Lonely House is a medium brown cream with red undertones, it reminds me of a medium-dark terracotta. I used 2 coats here, the formula was also great.

Wild Raspberries Grow over The Mosses Mar

RBL Wild Raspberries Grow over The Mosses Mar 1
RBL Wild Raspberries Grow over The Mosses Mar 2
RBL Wild Raspberries Grow over The Mosses Mar 3
Wild Raspberries Grow: ”One spring morning, a sparkling hint of brilliance appeared in the
periphery where wild raspberry patches thrived. The ruby fruit twinkled. Like Dorothy, from
The Wizard of Oz, the raspberries find their ruby slippers—turning the grayed world of black
and white into a beautiful spring day. In the light of the sun of a new day, the micro leafy
green glitters and sparkling fuchsia berries float. Combine this with any of the opaque colors
in this collection or use three coats to see a kaboom of glitter!”

I decided to show Wild Raspberries Grow layered first because I feel that this polish looks best as a glitter topper, though you can still wear it as a standalone color after several coats. This is 1 coat of Wild Raspberries Grow (a mixture of green micro-glitter and pink hex glitter) over 2 coats of The Mosses Mar. I really love this layering! The color combination reminds me of the cellophane grass that used to be in all the Easter baskets I got as a kid, haha!

Wild Raspberries Grow

RBL Wild Raspberries Grow 1
RBL Wild Raspberries Grow 2
Here’s a few photos of Wild Raspberries Grow on its own for those that are curious. Formula is thin and easy to work with, I used 4 coats for this swatch.

As Sweet Companions over Forgotten Road

RBL As Sweet Companions over Forgotten Road 1
RBL As Sweet Companions over Forgotten Road 2
RBL As Sweet Companions over Forgotten Road 3
As Sweet Companions: ”In the end, it was the hardship and the beauty that all flourished
together. The sonatas will always have the contrasting movement that settles what the
perfect ending was meant to be. The silver-lavender and matte black glitter were meant to be
playmates. This is not your typical screaming glitter, it’s more discreet, reserved, with muted
tones. You can create a perfect polka-dot nail art overlay with any of the opaque colors from
this collection as base. Or better yet, for those who want it real–layer it on for jeweled digits!”

I felt that As Sweet Companions would be best layered with Forgotten Road from this collection, I wasn’t wrong! This polish consists of a mixture of black and reflective lavender hex glitter in a suspension base. I used the ‘dabbing method’ due to the thickness of the suspension base in this nail polish, I find is easier for more precise glitter placement.

Small, Dim, Summer Stars

RBL Small, Dim, Summer Stars 1
RBL Small, Dim, Summer Stars 2
RBL Small, Dim, Summer Stars 3
Small, Dim, Summer Stars: ”Lost in the woods on a moonless, un-illuminated night, they
stumble through the darkness. Looking up at the sky amid the fragrant forest, the weeping
willow tree branches recite a monologue in the distance. A whippoorwill sopranos—its
cadenza joins to compete. Then they appeared, countless tiny stars embedded in the dark
sky, it was always there to be found in every gentle, trusting heart. This sweltering silvery
black base hammered with multifaceted and spectacular green, blue, pink, shimmery, glittery
twinkling stars will bring you back to that summer night long ago, full of wonder and beauty.”

And finally to Small, Dim, Summer Stars… This vampy stunner has a black base that’s filled with gorgeous multi-hued shimmer. Wonderful formula that was super smooth, I used 2 coats here! I can see myself wearing this one often!

Final Thoughts:

The Rescue Beauty Lounge A Poem collection definitely threw me for a loop. This is the most earthy toned collection that I’ve seen in quite some time from Rescue Beauty, but I really enjoy it! Before I even read the press release I could grasp the tone that Ji was trying to set with this color palette. Grassy greens, earthy browns and yellows, and brooding greys… All things that remind me of dusky rainy nights with a slow storm rolling in, watching from inside while you’re curled up warm in a blanket. I get it. ^_^

Not all of the colors in this collection are brand new, but the formulas for all the creams are top-notch and opaque in 1 or 2 coats. I’m not a huge fan of suspension base glitters due to the extra work needed to get the proper color payoff, but if you don’t mind the dabbing method the purple and black glitter combo in As Sweet Companions is fun and easy to pair with a multitude of layering possibilities.

My favorites from this collection are Footpath, Forgotten Road, The Mosses Mar and Small, Dim, Summer Stars. Which ones do you all like?

Paint Box Polish Summer Heat Collection (Summer 2013)

Morning Everyone!

Today I’ve got three out of the five nail polishes from the upcoming Paint Box Polish Summer Heat collection! Pam (creator of Paint Box Polish) sent me these babies and I really enjoyed them! She created this collection after she was inspired by the bright and energetic colors of her Zumba classes. ^_^

Since I wanted a glass smooth finish, I did use Glitter Tamer and a thick top coat (China Glaze Fast Forward) for these swatches. :D

Paint Box Polish - Booty Pop 2

Paint Box Polish – Booty Pop

Paint Box Polish - Booty Pop 3

Paint Box Polish – Booty Pop

Paint Box Polish - Booty Pop 4

Paint Box Polish – Booty Pop

Booty Pop is a highlighter yellow jelly-creme hybrid with blue shimmer and black square and circle glitters. This one had a super easy to work with formula, which isn’t a simple feat with yellow pigments! I did 3 coats of Booty Pop by itself here. ^_^

Sweat It Off

Paint Box Polish - Sweat It Off 1

Paint Box Polish - Sweat It Off 2

Paint Box Polish – Sweat It Off

Paint Box Polish - Sweat It Off 3

Paint Box Polish – Sweat It Off

Paint Box Polish - Sweat It Off 4

Paint Box Polish – Sweat It Off

Sweat It Off is a peachy neon creme with opalescent shimmer and black circle and square glitter. The formula on this one was a little bit temperamental on the first 2 coats, but after 3 coats it evened itself out. You will definitely need topcoat with this one to make it super glossy since it dries with a satin finish. Formula aside, Sweat It Off was a favorite for both my boyfriend and me!

Paint Box Polish - Everybody's Doing It 4

Paint Box Polish – Everybody’s Doing It

Everybody’s Doing It is a goooorrrgeous neon pink jelly-creme hybrid with blue shimmer and black circle and square glitter. This one had a nice thin and easy to work with formula just like Booty Pop. I used 3 coats here, but you could easily get away with 2 if you have shorter nails. ;)

Final Thoughts:

I really enjoyed the nail polishes that I got to try from this collection! The square and circle glitters were very easy to apply, no fishing required! And I was able to achieve an opaque and finished look at 3 coats, which is not always the case with neons. Pam did mention to me that these layered over white make them REALLY pop so I’ll have to try that next time I wear them. ^_^

All three were great though, both Booty Pop and Sweat It Off got the BSoA (Boyfriend Seal of Approval) and I really loved… ALL of them, haha! I actually plan on going back to snag the two I’m missing from the collection (a neon green and a bright Tardis blue!) once it’s released. :D

Purchase Info:

The Paint Box Polish Summer Heat collection will be available for purchase from the Paint Box Polish Etsy shop beginning on June 26th. These will only be available as full-sized bottles, which retail at $9.00 per bottle of polish.

And the ever wonderful Pam was kind enough to create a coupon code for you lovely folk who read my humble little blog. When you enter NOMSSUMMER20 at checkout you’ll get an additional 20% off your purchase! This coupon is good for the next 30 days folks! ^_^

Barielle Summer Brights 2013

Morning Everyone!

I’ve another great collection from Barielle to share with you all today. This time we’ll be looking at the Barielle Summer Brights for Summer 2013 swatches on the blog. All five of these beauties have a great creme finish, let’s check ‘em out!

Blue Capri

Barielle - Blue Capri 1

Barielle – Blue Capri

Barielle - Blue Capri 2

Barielle – Blue Capri

Blue Capri is a gorgeous cornflower blue creme. This is 2 coats and it has great coverage. The formula for all of these is fairly similar so I’ll go over that later in my “Final Thoughts” section.

Pink Flip-Flops

Barielle - Pink Flip-Flops 1

Barielle – Pink Flip-Flops

Barielle - Pink Flip-Flops 2

Barielle – Pink Flip-Flops

I think I would describe Pink Flip-Flops as a baby pink creme, this is 3 coats to even it out. It’s not a color that I would normally gravitate to, but it’s still very pretty!

Lemondrops

Barielle - Lemondrops 1

Barielle – Lemondrops

Barielle - Lemondrops 2

Barielle – Lemondrops

Lemondrops is a fabulous bold yellow creme! Levels out at 3 coats, which is shown here. I’m always on the look out for great yellow nail polishes and Lemondrops does not disappoint.

Cosmic Kiss

Barielle - Cosmic Kiss 1

Barielle – Cosmic Kiss

Barielle - Cosmic Kiss 2

Barielle – Cosmic Kiss

Cosmic Kiss is a goooorgeous deep flamingo pink creme. It’s incredibly shiny! I posted a pic on my instagram before I added topcoat and it’s craaaaazy how shiny it was even then! This is 2 easy coats.

Sweet Addiction

Barielle - Sweet Addiction 1

Barielle – Sweet Addiction

Barielle - Sweet Addiction 2

Barielle – Sweet Addiction

And finally we have Sweet Addiction, a perfect turquoise green creme. This one was almost a 1 coater! I did show 2 coats here, though you could probably get away with 1 coat if you have shorter nails. ^_^

Final Thoughts:

The formula for all of these was really great! All but Pink Flip-Flops and Lemondrops were 2 coats, and I can accept the 3 coats needed for those two because it’s a yellow (a notoriously difficult pigment for nail polish) and an almost pastel pink. My top picks from the Summer Brights collection are Lemondrops, Cosmic Kiss, Blue Capri, and Sweet Addition. Soooo basically all of them except for Pink Flip-Flops, which is a great color but just not something that I personally would wear.

Purchase Info:

The Barielle Summer Brights collection can be purchased on the Barielle website. Their polishes retail at $8.00 per .45 fl oz bottle of polish, or $25 for the Summer Brights 5-piece set.

Barielle Sweet Treats Spring 2013

Morning Everyone!

Today I’ve got the Barielle Sweet Treats swatches for Spring 2013 to show you all. I’ve been sitting on this collection for a while now and I wanted to make sure I shared it with you before spring ended, haha! This is a 5 polish collection of pastel(ish) cremes and a lone shimmer from Barielle, so let’s check ‘em out!

Banana Drop

Barielle - Banana Drop 1

Barielle – Banana Drop

Barielle - Banana Drop 2

Barielle – Banana Drop

Banana Drop is a creamy pale yellow creme. I was afraid of how application would be on this one with it being yellow AND a pastel, but it was relatively painless! Only one tiny spot of cuticle drag (on my ring finger) and it self leveled at 3 coats.

Green Apple Chew

Barielle - Green Apple Chew 1

Barielle – Green Apple Chew

Barielle - Green Apple Chew 2

Barielle – Green Apple Chew

Green Apple Chew is a great chartreuse green creme. This one was perfection at 3 thin coats, and again self leveling. It immediately reminded me of OPI’s Did It On ‘Em but I’ll have to compare the two to see how similar they really are. I do know that the formula for Green Apple Chew is ten times better than the OPI! And I think Green Apple Chew might be a smidge brighter, but don’t quote me on that one! ;)

Orange Parfait

Barielle - Orange Parfait 1

Barielle – Orange Parfait

Barielle - Orange Parfait 2

Barielle – Orange Parfait

Orange Parfait is a super chic muted coral orange, it reminds me of the color of sherbet! This was 3 coats here, but you could probably get away with 2 coats with careful application.

Lilac Jelly Bean

Barielle - Lilac Jelly Bean 1

Barielle – Lilac Jelly Bean

Barielle - Lilac Jelly Bean 2

Barielle – Lilac Jelly Bean

Lilac Jelly Bean is your typical grayed out violet. Nothing new here, but the formula is great! This is 2 coats. :)

Blue Cotton Candy

Barielle - Blue Cotton Candy 1

Barielle – Blue Cotton Candy

Barielle - Blue Cotton Candy 2

Barielle – Blue Cotton Candy

Blue Cotton Candy is a sweet surprise for this collection, a muted sea blue with silver shimmer! At first glance I thought it was glass flecks and my heart skipped a beat, haha! The formula on this one was superb, almost a 1 coater but I used 2 here. Careful application and shorter nails will easily require only 1 coat of polish

Barielle - Blue Cotton Candy 3

Barielle – Blue Cotton Candy

And here’s a macro shot. *le swoon*

Final Thoughts:

Honestly I really have nothing horrible to say about this collection! I usually stay far far away from pastels because they give me lobster claws, but this collection was quite flattering on my skin tone! Of course the only non pastel, Blue Cotton Candy, is hands down my favorite. I’m a shimmer lover after all. ;) But my other picks from the Barielle Sweet Treats collection are Green Apple Chew and Orange Parfait. Lilac Jelly Bean has been done over and over and OVER by so many different brands that I would have honestly enjoyed any other color in its place. That being said, they all had great formulas for a mostly pastel collection. No chalkyness, no streaks, easy application. Which ones are your favorites?

Purchase Info:

The Barielle Sweet Treats collection can be purchased on the Barielle website. Their polishes retail at $8.00 per .45 fl oz bottle of polish, or $25 for the Sweet Treats 5-piece set.

Review: My Pretty And Polished Mathematical!! Collection Picks!

7

Pretty and Polished Mathematical Collection

Oh My Glob Everyone!

I was so friggin pumped when I realized that Pretty and Polished was making the Mathematical!! collection based off the show Adventure Time! As you may well know by now, my boyfriend and I are completely obsessed with the show. We even dressed up at Princess Bubblegum and Finn for Halloween! I set my alarm for the minute these got released and snagged 5 minis from the 8 polish collection. I’ll more than likely go back for the full sized bottles at some point because this collection is totally shmowzow!

If you’re not familiar with Adventure Time, I’ll try to briefly describe it to you. It’s an American tv show on Cartoon Network that follows a 14-year-old boy named Finn the Human and his yellow dog named Jake (who has magical powers) through the post-apocalyptic world called Land of Ooo. Some other outstanding characters in the show are: Princess Bubblegum, the ruler of Candy Kingdom; The Ice King, kinda evil but mostly just wants to marry all the PRINCESSES!!; Lumpy Space Princess, who is pretty much a lumpy valley girl; Marceline, the coolest sorta evil-but-not-really hipster vampire; Lady Rainicorn, Jake’s girlfriend (he’s the only one that understand what she’s saying…) who is half rainbow and half unicorn; and Beemo/BMO,  the most adorable handheld gaming system ever. There are TONS of other characters and lots of back-story. So if you enjoy reading check out the wiki and wikia pages! ^_^

Enough of my rambling, let’s get to the swatches! :-D

I’m Not A Banana!

Pretty and Polished - I'm Not A Banana! 1
Pretty and Polished - I'm Not A Banana! 2
Pretty and Polished - I'm Not A Banana! 3
First up is I’m Not A Banana! This one is based on Jake the Dog. The yellow jelly is a perfect match for his fur color, and I love the black and white hex glitter! This one was pretty sheer but I was able to build it to an opacity I liked after 4 coats. I didn’t have any issue with getting the hex glitter out of the bottle and it dried relatively quickly for as much as I used. I’ll have to search through my yellows to see if I have something similar to layer it with next time. Maybe Cult Nails Feel Me Up? :)

King Of C-C-Cool

Pretty and Polished - King of C-C-Cool 1
Pretty and Polished - King of C-C-Cool 2
Pretty and Polished - King of C-C-Cool 3
King of C-C-Cool is based on the Ice King and it’s so awesome! I have nothing like this polish in my collection at all. It’s a blue squishy creme/jelly base filled with blue micro-shimmer, tiny red square glitter, blue and yellow hex glitter, and white diamond glitter! I absolutely LOVE this one. I used 3 coats here and had no issues getting a good amount of each type of glitter on my nails. No dabbing necessary even though there’s so much going on! :-D

Lumps

Pretty and Polished - My Lumps 1
Pretty and Polished - My Lumps 2
Pretty and Polished - My Lumps 3
My Lumps represents the ever awesome Lumpy Space Princess, and is a sheer purple jelly filled with yellow and purple glitter shards and blurple micro-shimmer. This was the only one I chose to layer out of the group. It looked too sheer to build up on its own but in hindsight I believe you can get this one to opacity after 4 coats. Shown here is 3 coats over A England Guinevere. You can’t even really see my base polish at all anymore (except for maybe my pinky which I think I accidentally only did 2 coats of My Lumps :P).

This is another unique one for me in my collection. I loved the yellow flash in the purple! The glitter was fairly easy to place, just make sure you wait between coats so you don’t drag it. And a good top coat will keep the surface smooth.

Peebles

Pretty and Polished - Peebles 1
Pretty and Polished - Peebles 2
Pretty and Polished - Peebles 3
Peebles is named after Princess Bubblegum (who is often referred to as PB or Peebles in the show). This one is a squishy bubblegum pink jelly with fuchsia micro-shimmer and pink and yellow hex glitter. I looooooove this one, but I may be partial because PB is my favorite character in the show. :P I used 3 coats here.

The Young Hero

Pretty and Polished - The Young Hero 1
Pretty and Polished - The Young Hero 2
And lastly, we have The Young Hero! This one is named after Finn the Human and it’s another favorite for me in the collection. The Young Hero is a squishy white creme/jelly hybrid filled with blue and yellow small glitters, small blue hex glitter, light blue square glitter and light green hex glitter. LOVE!

I’ve been wearing this one for a few days now. The cashier as PetSmart stopped me dead in the middle of my transaction to gush about my nails when I had this on! She thought I’d put the glitter in there myself. :P
Pretty and Polished - The Young Hero 3
Pretty and Polished - The Young Hero 4
You all get TWO macro shots of The Young Hero because you’re that special to me, haha. That and you can see the green hex glitter in the first macro. ;)

Application for The Young Hero was a little tricky. It was hard to get it to level out to even coat on some nails but I managed to get it all under control at 4 thin coats. If you wait between coats or layer it over a white base (I didn’t do either of those things, haha) you might have an easier time of it. But it was totally worth the effort because this final result is effing gorgeous!
Pretty and Polished - Mathematical Bottle Shot 1
Pretty and Polished - Mathematical Bottle Shot 2
And here’s a few bonus shots of the mini bottles with the new Pretty and Polished labels. I love that each bottle has little colored polish drops that reflect the colors inside each individual polish! Very cute!

Final Thoughts:

Even if I weren’t partial to Adventure Time I would still give my picks from this collection an A+++++! Every single polish from the collection is entirely unique to my stash and they all have something great to offer. Not to mention, they’re just so dang fun! I think each one accurately represents the whimsical (and slightly off the wall) nature of the television show, and each polish is a perfect representation of the characters that inspired them. Dare I say that if I made a top 10 indie collection list for 2012, the Mathematical!! collection would be on that list for sure!

Do you need these? Get the math outta here with that question, heck yeah you need them! :-D

Purchase Info:

The entire Pretty and Polished Mathematical!! collection can be purchased from their online store, www.shopprettyandpolished.com. Each polish retails at $5.00 for the mini and $9 for the full sized bottle. You can also still find Pretty and Polished on her Etsy Shop.

Review: Ozotic Sugar 904 Swatches and Review!

Ozotic Sugar 904 - Bottle Shot

Morning Everyone!

I’m back today with one of the new Ozotic polishes that I received from Picture Polish a while back. This one is Ozotic Sugar 904, a yellow glass fleck shimmer. This is a sheer polish on its own so I wanted to play around with it a bit and show you a few different ways that it can be worn!

Ozotic Sugar 904

Ozotic Sugar 904 - 2
Ozotic Sugar 904 - 1
Ozotic Sugar 904 - 3
Ozotic Sugar 904 - 4
Ozotic Sugar 904 is a shimmery iridescent sheer yellow glass fleck polish. It can be built up to opacity though, shown above is 4 coats on its own. I quite like it this way for a more delicate look.
Ozotic Sugar 904 - 5
Ozotic Sugar 904 - 6
Here I layered Ozotic Sugar 904 over several colors. On my pointer finger you have 904 on its own. My middle finger is 1 coat of 904 layered over black (A England Camelot). My ring finger is 1 coat of 904 layered over a green (OPI Jade Is The New Black), and finally on my pinky I have 1 coat of Ozotic Sugar 904 layered over white (OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls).
Ozotic Sugar 904 - 7
Macro of Ozotic Sugar 904 on its own.
Ozotic Sugar 904 - 8
Macro of 904 over black. The green in the glass flecks really come out with this layering.
Ozotic Sugar 904 - 9
904 layered over green. The yellow flecks are in full effect here.
Ozotic Sugar 904 - 10
And finally 904 over white. This time the glass flecks take on an opalescent tone. I love it!

Final Thoughts:

I will admit that I was a little hesitant when I first looked at this polish. It looked like it would be too sheer, and a sheer yellow on nails didn’t sound like a good life plan. :-P But once I actually tried it I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed Ozotic 904! The application was effortless and it has a good formula. Dry time on its own is a bit extended but at that point you’re dealing with 4 coats of polish. Dry time layered over other colors seems typical. The layering possibilities are virtually endless!

I have a few more polishes from Picture Polish that I’ll be playing with over the next few weeks so stay tuned! ^_^

Purchase Info:

Ozotic Sugar 904 and other Ozotic polishes can be purchased from the following E-Tailers: Picture Polish, you can also check out the Picture Polish Network Page for other worldwide E-Tailers. Prices per bottle range depending on the E-Tailier, so please check out their individual policies at each website. :)

Picture Polish has Facebook and Twitter so don’t forget to check them out there too for updates!

31 Day Challenge: Day 22 – Inspired By A Song (Gangnam Style Nails)!

21

Hey Everyone!

OOooooh man. This is hands down my favorite day of the 31 Day Challenge 2012 so far! Today’s theme for Day 22 is ‘Inspired By A Song’, and this was another day where I knew exactly what I wanted to do from the beginning of the challenge. There’s a million pictures so let’s just get straight to it! :-D

Oppa Gangnam Nails!

Hahahaaa! I am so so SO happy with how these turned out! I was first introduced to this song by the K-Pop artist Psy by my boyfriend back in the beginning of August. I laughed so friggin hard that I was in tears. This song is infections, and the accompanying music video is absolutely hilarious! I joked around for a while about doing Gangnam nails, so once I decided to do this challenge with Sam and Cris my day 22 nails were a no brainer. :-D

If you somehow have been living under a rock and haven’t heard the song or seen the music video for Gangnam Style, I’ve included it at the bottom of this post. :P

The scene in the music video where Psy and the dancers are covered in white debris always cracks me up. So I’m happy that I was able to recreate that with mah nails. Excuse the awkward hang pose but it’s hard to get my thumb and pointer finger to cooperate. ;)

31 Day Challenge 2012: Day 21 – Inspired By A Color

3

Hey Everyone!

Welcome to another day of the 31 Day Challenge 2012! Today’s theme for Day 21 is ‘Inspired By A Color’, which is such a vague theme. I mean… The entire first week of the challenge was inspired by color, don’t ya think? ;) I didn’t really know what direction I wanted to go in with this one so I just did a skittle mani. That’s inspired by several colors, right? :-D

I’ve been meaning to play with several of my new glitter polishes that I got last month, so here they are! Let’s see if I remember the names of everything because I’m awesome and didn’t write anything down when I wore this last week. :-D
31DC2012 Day 21 - Inspired by Color 4
Smitten Polish ERMAHGERD, CANDY CORMS. I really… REALLY hate the whole “Ermahgerd” meme so the name of this one drives me up the wall. It was funny at first but it’s seriously been beaten into the ground. -_- But the polish itself is pretty! It was a bit of a pain to work with, goopy/thick but worth the headache. I think if I add thinner it might help.

This is Accessorize Nail Speckle Bumble Bee. I layered it over OPI Hi, Pumpkin!. This one was a gift to me from my pal Esther in the UK. Thanks lady! :-D
31DC2012 Day 21 - Inspired by Color 6
This is Whimsical Ideas by Pam Wicked! I fell in love with this one after seeing Jen’s swatches. ^_^ I layered it over…. I think Essie Mojito Madness, but I honestly can’t remember anymore.
31DC2012 Day 21 - Inspired by Color 7
This is the other Accessorize Nail Speckle polish that Esther sent me for my birthday. It’s called Butterfly, I layered this one over a white creme. :)
31DC2012 Day 21 - Inspired by Color 8
I think this was my favorite combination! This is OPI Candlelight with 1 coat of Cagedbird Nail Lacquer Hallowishes layered over it. I loooove the combination of the orange, purple and star glitter. I didn’t even have to fish around for the stars, it had perfect application! ^_^

31 Day Challenge 2012: Day 14 – Flowers!

3

Hey Everyone!

I apologize for this post being WAY late, but this past weekend I got absolutely SWAMPED with work and I simply had no time to do my nails! I powered through Monday night to catch up to Sam and Cris and cranked out designs for Days 13-15 of the 31 Day Challenge 2012 that I’d missed last week. I’m posting them all for you today! ^_^

Flowers!! I used Hard Candy Taxi Cab, a lovely little vintage polish that just arrived in the mail from my pal Dana (thanks girl!!). I then stamped over it with Mint Polish Original Mint and Red Angel stamp RA-116.

That’s it for now! Next up is Day 15 in a bit. :-D

31 Day Challenge 2012: Day 9 – Rainbow Nails!!

15

Morning Everyone!

I hope you’re all having a great week so far! I have one more night of work and then I have the rest of October off! I’m excited to have a mini break and just become a vegetable at home. And perhaps venture out a time or two for Halloween festivities! For those that celebrate, any of you have fun plans for the extended Halloweekend? And what are your costume plans?! I love hearing about what other people are going to do for the holiday. ^_^

Also I wanted to thank everyone that voted for my Bundle Monster Fright Night contest entry, BECAUSE I MADE IT AS ONE OF THE 13 FINALISTS!! :-D You can see the other finalists [HERE]. The guest judges are picking the winners some time today, and even if I don’t place I’m still happy to have made it as far as I did because there were some amazing entries for the contest. :-P

Today is Day 9 of the 31 Day Challenge 2012, and the prompt is rainbow nails. I don’t know why, but this is my least favorite prompt of the entire challenge (swiftly followed by ‘Inspired by a Color”, I’m still wtf-ing at that one). Last year I did Nyan Cat (which I loved, even though my cat looked a little… off) but this year I was just so uninspired. I did eventually figure something out so without further ado…

31DC2012 Day 9 - Rainbow Nails 1
31DC2012 Day 9 - Rainbow Nails 2
31DC2012 Day 9 - Rainbow Nails 3
I called myself trying to keep things “simple” with a rainbow skittle manicure. I wanted to do the Fishtail Braid as an accent nail because I figured that doing it on just one nail would save time. Too bad this still took me THREE FRICKIN’ HOURS with having to wait between coats to dry… :-( Even 12 hours later my stupid ring finger is still dentable. I love the look of Fishtail Braid manicures, and this one turned out better than my last attempt… But I doubt I will ever do this ish again unless I’m using quick dry nail polishes. :-P

Nail Polishes I Used:
Dermelect Head Turner (pointer finger)
Sally Hansen Lightening
(thumb and ring finger)
OPI Red Lights Ahead… Where?
(middle and ring finger)
Color Club Insta-This
(pinky and ring finger)
OPI A Roll In The Hague
(ring finger)
Rescue Beauty Lounge Mismas
(ring finger)
Essie Pretty Edgy
(ring finger)
China Glaze Wireless Holographic Top Coat

31DC2012 Day 9 - Rainbow Nails 4
31DC2012 Day 9 - Rainbow Nails 5
I’m glad I decided to add the holographic top coat because I really think it ties everything together nicely. For the fishtail braid accent nail I just carefully free-handed the lines because I am just entirely too impatient for tape manicures. I always end up peeling off half my nail polish in the process. :-P
31DC2012 Day 9 - Rainbow Nails 6
31DC2012 Day 9 - Rainbow Nails 7
31DC2012 Day 9 - Rainbow Nails 8
And a few more shots with my rarely seen thumb. My nails are getting pretty long again, eh? I think I’ll keep them long-ish at least to the end of the challenge since it gives me a better work space for nail art. ^_^

I’m almost tempted to grow them super long and shape them into stilettos just for shiggles before I file them down after the challenge is done. 8O

Well that’s all she wrote for today everyone! The next challenge day is this Saturday and it’s gradient nails! I cannot wait to show you what I have in store for that day! ^_^

Don’t forget to check out  Sam and Cris’s blogs to see their Day 9 rainbow nails.
