Pretty and Polished Mathematical Collection

Oh My Glob Everyone!

I was so friggin pumped when I realized that Pretty and Polished was making the Mathematical!! collection based off the show Adventure Time! As you may well know by now, my boyfriend and I are completely obsessed with the show. We even dressed up at Princess Bubblegum and Finn for Halloween! I set my alarm for the minute these got released and snagged 5 minis from the 8 polish collection. I’ll more than likely go back for the full sized bottles at some point because this collection is totally shmowzow!

If you’re not familiar with Adventure Time, I’ll try to briefly describe it to you. It’s an American tv show on Cartoon Network that follows a 14-year-old boy named Finn the Human and his yellow dog named Jake (who has magical powers) through the post-apocalyptic world called Land of Ooo. Some other outstanding characters in the show are: Princess Bubblegum, the ruler of Candy Kingdom; The Ice King, kinda evil but mostly just wants to marry all the PRINCESSES!!; Lumpy Space Princess, who is pretty much a lumpy valley girl; Marceline, the coolest sorta evil-but-not-really hipster vampire; Lady Rainicorn, Jake’s girlfriend (he’s the only one that understand what she’s saying…) who is half rainbow and half unicorn; and Beemo/BMO,  the most adorable handheld gaming system ever. There are TONS of other characters and lots of back-story. So if you enjoy reading check out the wiki and wikia pages! ^_^

Enough of my rambling, let’s get to the swatches! :-D

I’m Not A Banana!

Pretty and Polished - I'm Not A Banana! 1
Pretty and Polished - I'm Not A Banana! 2
Pretty and Polished - I'm Not A Banana! 3
First up is I’m Not A Banana! This one is based on Jake the Dog. The yellow jelly is a perfect match for his fur color, and I love the black and white hex glitter! This one was pretty sheer but I was able to build it to an opacity I liked after 4 coats. I didn’t have any issue with getting the hex glitter out of the bottle and it dried relatively quickly for as much as I used. I’ll have to search through my yellows to see if I have something similar to layer it with next time. Maybe Cult Nails Feel Me Up? :)

King Of C-C-Cool

Pretty and Polished - King of C-C-Cool 1
Pretty and Polished - King of C-C-Cool 2
Pretty and Polished - King of C-C-Cool 3
King of C-C-Cool is based on the Ice King and it’s so awesome! I have nothing like this polish in my collection at all. It’s a blue squishy creme/jelly base filled with blue micro-shimmer, tiny red square glitter, blue and yellow hex glitter, and white diamond glitter! I absolutely LOVE this one. I used 3 coats here and had no issues getting a good amount of each type of glitter on my nails. No dabbing necessary even though there’s so much going on! :-D

Lumps

Pretty and Polished - My Lumps 1
Pretty and Polished - My Lumps 2
Pretty and Polished - My Lumps 3
My Lumps represents the ever awesome Lumpy Space Princess, and is a sheer purple jelly filled with yellow and purple glitter shards and blurple micro-shimmer. This was the only one I chose to layer out of the group. It looked too sheer to build up on its own but in hindsight I believe you can get this one to opacity after 4 coats. Shown here is 3 coats over A England Guinevere. You can’t even really see my base polish at all anymore (except for maybe my pinky which I think I accidentally only did 2 coats of My Lumps :P ).

This is another unique one for me in my collection. I loved the yellow flash in the purple! The glitter was fairly easy to place, just make sure you wait between coats so you don’t drag it. And a good top coat will keep the surface smooth.

Peebles

Pretty and Polished - Peebles 1
Pretty and Polished - Peebles 2
Pretty and Polished - Peebles 3
Peebles is named after Princess Bubblegum (who is often referred to as PB or Peebles in the show). This one is a squishy bubblegum pink jelly with fuchsia micro-shimmer and pink and yellow hex glitter. I looooooove this one, but I may be partial because PB is my favorite character in the show. :P I used 3 coats here.

The Young Hero

Pretty and Polished - The Young Hero 1
Pretty and Polished - The Young Hero 2
And lastly, we have The Young Hero! This one is named after Finn the Human and it’s another favorite for me in the collection. The Young Hero is a squishy white creme/jelly hybrid filled with blue and yellow small glitters, small blue hex glitter, light blue square glitter and light green hex glitter. LOVE!

I’ve been wearing this one for a few days now. The cashier as PetSmart stopped me dead in the middle of my transaction to gush about my nails when I had this on! She thought I’d put the glitter in there myself. :P
Pretty and Polished - The Young Hero 3
Pretty and Polished - The Young Hero 4
You all get TWO macro shots of The Young Hero because you’re that special to me, haha. That and you can see the green hex glitter in the first macro. ;)

Application for The Young Hero was a little tricky. It was hard to get it to level out to even coat on some nails but I managed to get it all under control at 4 thin coats. If you wait between coats or layer it over a white base (I didn’t do either of those things, haha) you might have an easier time of it. But it was totally worth the effort because this final result is effing gorgeous!
Pretty and Polished - Mathematical Bottle Shot 1
Pretty and Polished - Mathematical Bottle Shot 2
And here’s a few bonus shots of the mini bottles with the new Pretty and Polished labels. I love that each bottle has little colored polish drops that reflect the colors inside each individual polish! Very cute!

Final Thoughts:

Even if I weren’t partial to Adventure Time I would still give my picks from this collection an A+++++! Every single polish from the collection is entirely unique to my stash and they all have something great to offer. Not to mention, they’re just so dang fun! I think each one accurately represents the whimsical (and slightly off the wall) nature of the television show, and each polish is a perfect representation of the characters that inspired them. Dare I say that if I made a top 10 indie collection list for 2012, the Mathematical!! collection would be on that list for sure!

Do you need these? Get the math outta here with that question, heck yeah you need them! :-D

Purchase Info:

The entire Pretty and Polished Mathematical!! collection can be purchased from their online store, www.shopprettyandpolished.com. Each polish retails at $5.00 for the mini and $9 for the full sized bottle. You can also still find Pretty and Polished on her Etsy Shop.

Ozotic Sugar 904 - Bottle Shot

Morning Everyone!

I’m back today with one of the new Ozotic polishes that I received from Picture Polish a while back. This one is Ozotic Sugar 904, a yellow glass fleck shimmer. This is a sheer polish on its own so I wanted to play around with it a bit and show you a few different ways that it can be worn!

Ozotic Sugar 904

Ozotic Sugar 904 - 2
Ozotic Sugar 904 - 1
Ozotic Sugar 904 - 3
Ozotic Sugar 904 - 4
Ozotic Sugar 904 is a shimmery iridescent sheer yellow glass fleck polish. It can be built up to opacity though, shown above is 4 coats on its own. I quite like it this way for a more delicate look.
Ozotic Sugar 904 - 5
Ozotic Sugar 904 - 6
Here I layered Ozotic Sugar 904 over several colors. On my pointer finger you have 904 on its own. My middle finger is 1 coat of 904 layered over black (A England Camelot). My ring finger is 1 coat of 904 layered over a green (OPI Jade Is The New Black), and finally on my pinky I have 1 coat of Ozotic Sugar 904 layered over white (OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls).
Ozotic Sugar 904 - 7
Macro of Ozotic Sugar 904 on its own.
Ozotic Sugar 904 - 8
Macro of 904 over black. The green in the glass flecks really come out with this layering.
Ozotic Sugar 904 - 9
904 layered over green. The yellow flecks are in full effect here.
Ozotic Sugar 904 - 10
And finally 904 over white. This time the glass flecks take on an opalescent tone. I love it!

Final Thoughts:

I will admit that I was a little hesitant when I first looked at this polish. It looked like it would be too sheer, and a sheer yellow on nails didn’t sound like a good life plan. :-P But once I actually tried it I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed Ozotic 904! The application was effortless and it has a good formula. Dry time on its own is a bit extended but at that point you’re dealing with 4 coats of polish. Dry time layered over other colors seems typical. The layering possibilities are virtually endless!

I have a few more polishes from Picture Polish that I’ll be playing with over the next few weeks so stay tuned! ^_^

Purchase Info:

Ozotic Sugar 904 and other Ozotic polishes can be purchased from the following E-Tailers: Picture Polish, you can also check out the Picture Polish Network Page for other worldwide E-Tailers. Prices per bottle range depending on the E-Tailier, so please check out their individual policies at each website. :)

31 Day Challenge: Day 22 – Inspired By A Song (Gangnam Style Nails)!

21

Hey Everyone!

OOooooh man. This is hands down my favorite day of the 31 Day Challenge 2012 so far! Today’s theme for Day 22 is ‘Inspired By A Song’, and this was another day where I knew exactly what I wanted to do from the beginning of the challenge. There’s a million pictures so let’s just get straight to it! :-D

Oppa Gangnam Nails!

Hahahaaa! I am so so SO happy with how these turned out! I was first introduced to this song by the K-Pop artist Psy by my boyfriend back in the beginning of August. I laughed so friggin hard that I was in tears. This song is infections, and the accompanying music video is absolutely hilarious! I joked around for a while about doing Gangnam nails, so once I decided to do this challenge with Sam and Cris my day 22 nails were a no brainer. :-D

If you somehow have been living under a rock and haven’t heard the song or seen the music video for Gangnam Style, I’ve included it at the bottom of this post. :P

The scene in the music video where Psy and the dancers are covered in white debris always cracks me up. So I’m happy that I was able to recreate that with mah nails. Excuse the awkward hang pose but it’s hard to get my thumb and pointer finger to cooperate. ;)

31 Day Challenge 2012: Day 21 – Inspired By A Color

3

Hey Everyone!

Welcome to another day of the 31 Day Challenge 2012! Today’s theme for Day 21 is ‘Inspired By A Color’, which is such a vague theme. I mean… The entire first week of the challenge was inspired by color, don’t ya think? ;) I didn’t really know what direction I wanted to go in with this one so I just did a skittle mani. That’s inspired by several colors, right? :-D

31 Day Challenge 2012 Day 21 – Inspired By A Color!

31DC2012 Day 21 - Inspired by Color 3
31DC2012 Day 21 - Inspired by Color 2
31DC2012 Day 21 - Inspired by Color 1
I’ve been meaning to play with several of my new glitter polishes that I got last month, so here they are! Let’s see if I remember the names of everything because I’m awesome and didn’t write anything down when I wore this last week. :-D
31DC2012 Day 21 - Inspired by Color 4
Smitten Polish ERMAHGERD, CANDY CORMS. I really… REALLY hate the whole “Ermahgerd” meme so the name of this one drives me up the wall. It was funny at first but it’s seriously been beaten into the ground. -_- But the polish itself is pretty! It was a bit of a pain to work with, goopy/thick but worth the headache. I think if I add thinner it might help.
31DC2012 Day 21 - Inspired by Color 5
This is Accessorize Nail Speckle Bumble Bee. I layered it over OPI Hi, Pumpkin!. This one was a gift to me from my pal Esther in the UK. Thanks lady! :-D
31DC2012 Day 21 - Inspired by Color 6
This is Whimsical Ideas by Pam Wicked! I fell in love with this one after seeing Jen’s swatches. ^_^ I layered it over…. I think Essie Mojito Madness, but I honestly can’t remember anymore.
31DC2012 Day 21 - Inspired by Color 7
This is the other Accessorize Nail Speckle polish that Esther sent me for my birthday. It’s called Butterfly, I layered this one over a white creme. :)
31DC2012 Day 21 - Inspired by Color 8
I think this was my favorite combination! This is OPI Candlelight with 1 coat of Cagedbird Nail Lacquer Hallowishes layered over it. I loooove the combination of the orange, purple and star glitter. I didn’t even have to fish around for the stars, it had perfect application! ^_^

31 Day Challenge 2012: Day 14 – Flowers!

3

Hey Everyone!

I apologize for this post being WAY late, but this past weekend I got absolutely SWAMPED with work and I simply had no time to do my nails! I powered through Monday night to catch up to Sam and Cris and cranked out designs for Days 13-15 of the 31 Day Challenge 2012 that I’d missed last week. I’m posting them all for you today! ^_^

31 Day Challenge 2012 Day 14 – Flowers

31DC2012 Day 14 Floral 1
31DC2012 Day 14 Floral 2
Flowers!! I used Hard Candy Taxi Cab, a lovely little vintage polish that just arrived in the mail from my pal Dana (thanks girl!!). I then stamped over it with Mint Polish Original Mint and Red Angel stamp RA-116.

That’s it for now! Next up is Day 15 in a bit. :-D

31 Day Challenge 2012: Day 9 – Rainbow Nails!!

15

Morning Everyone!

I hope you’re all having a great week so far! I have one more night of work and then I have the rest of October off! I’m excited to have a mini break and just become a vegetable at home. And perhaps venture out a time or two for Halloween festivities! For those that celebrate, any of you have fun plans for the extended Halloweekend? And what are your costume plans?! I love hearing about what other people are going to do for the holiday. ^_^

Also I wanted to thank everyone that voted for my Bundle Monster Fright Night contest entry, BECAUSE I MADE IT AS ONE OF THE 13 FINALISTS!! :-D You can see the other finalists [HERE]. The guest judges are picking the winners some time today, and even if I don’t place I’m still happy to have made it as far as I did because there were some amazing entries for the contest. :-P

Today is Day 9 of the 31 Day Challenge 2012, and the prompt is rainbow nails. I don’t know why, but this is my least favorite prompt of the entire challenge (swiftly followed by ‘Inspired by a Color”, I’m still wtf-ing at that one). Last year I did Nyan Cat (which I loved, even though my cat looked a little… off) but this year I was just so uninspired. I did eventually figure something out so without further ado…

31 Day Challenge 2012 Day 9 – Rainbow Nails!

31DC2012 Day 9 - Rainbow Nails 1
31DC2012 Day 9 - Rainbow Nails 2
31DC2012 Day 9 - Rainbow Nails 3
I called myself trying to keep things “simple” with a rainbow skittle manicure. I wanted to do the Fishtail Braid as an accent nail because I figured that doing it on just one nail would save time. Too bad this still took me THREE FRICKIN’ HOURS with having to wait between coats to dry… :-( Even 12 hours later my stupid ring finger is still dentable. I love the look of Fishtail Braid manicures, and this one turned out better than my last attempt… But I doubt I will ever do this ish again unless I’m using quick dry nail polishes. :-P

Nail Polishes I Used:
Dermelect Head Turner (pointer finger)
Sally Hansen Lightening
(thumb and ring finger)
OPI Red Lights Ahead… Where?
(middle and ring finger)
Color Club Insta-This
(pinky and ring finger)
OPI A Roll In The Hague
(ring finger)
Rescue Beauty Lounge Mismas
(ring finger)
Essie Pretty Edgy
(ring finger)
China Glaze Wireless Holographic Top Coat

31DC2012 Day 9 - Rainbow Nails 4
31DC2012 Day 9 - Rainbow Nails 5
I’m glad I decided to add the holographic top coat because I really think it ties everything together nicely. For the fishtail braid accent nail I just carefully free-handed the lines because I am just entirely too impatient for tape manicures. I always end up peeling off half my nail polish in the process. :-P
31DC2012 Day 9 - Rainbow Nails 6
31DC2012 Day 9 - Rainbow Nails 7
31DC2012 Day 9 - Rainbow Nails 8
And a few more shots with my rarely seen thumb. My nails are getting pretty long again, eh? I think I’ll keep them long-ish at least to the end of the challenge since it gives me a better work space for nail art. ^_^

I’m almost tempted to grow them super long and shape them into stilettos just for shiggles before I file them down after the challenge is done. 8O

Well that’s all she wrote for today everyone! The next challenge day is this Saturday and it’s gradient nails! I cannot wait to show you what I have in store for that day! ^_^

Don’t forget to check out  Sam and Cris’s blogs to see their Day 9 rainbow nails.

31 Day Challenge 2012: Day 3 – Yellow Nails!!

20

Happy Sunday Everyone!!

Today I’m back with Sam and Cris for Day 3 of the 31 Day Challenge 2012 with our yellow nails! Yellow is one of my absolute favorite nail polish colors so I had a lot of fun trying to come up with what to do. Now that I think about it, I should have done yellow cupcakes or something since today is my birthday. Ah well, hindsight and such. :-P

And once again I’m typing this in the middle of the night so let’s keep my intro short and sweet. ;)

31DC2012 Day 3 – Candy Stripe Yellow Nails

Day 3 Yellow Nails - 7
Day 3 Yellow Nails - 8
Day 3 Yellow Nails - 9
May I present to you, mah candy nails! Well, I think they look like candy anyway. :-P I started off with 1 coat of Finger Paints Catwalk Queen, a murky mustard yellow creme. Catwalk Queen is one of my favorite yellows, and I love that it’s usually a one coater for me. My bottle of it has turned some scary brownish orange color but the polish itself still looks the same. O.o
Day 3 Yellow Nails - 10
Day 3 Yellow Nails - 11
Then I used a medium-sized striping brush and added Cult Nails Feel Me Up (a daffodil yellow crelly), Catrice Sunny Side (a gorgeous yellow shimmer, thanks again Andrea!), and Essence Mellow Yellow (a pale yellow creme).
Day 3 Yellow Nails - 1
Day 3 Yellow Nails - 2
Day 3 Yellow Nails - 3
And theeeeeeeennn I decided that I wanted to use my A48 nail plate some more. :-D This is the same nail plate that has the koi fish on it that I used for my Day 2 nails. It had this patchwork stitch pattern on it that I thought was super cute and I think it looks pretty awesome with the different yellows in this manicure. :-)
Day 3 Yellow Nails - 4
Day 3 Yellow Nails - 5
Day 3 Yellow Nails - 6
I used Milani White on White (surprise, surprise…) for the stamping. I think this nail plate and I have a lot of fun stamping in our future. :-D

That’s it for Day 3! Don’t forget to check out  Sam and Cris’s blogs to see their Day 3 nails!

P.S. Anyone watching the season 3 premiere of The Walking Dead tonight!! I know I am and I cannot wait to see Michonne in the flesh!! :-D

NOTD: My Halloween Nails For Bundle Monster Fright Night!

30

Happy Friday Everyone!

October is my favorite month of the year for several reasons:

1 – It’s Fall, and Fall is my favorite time of the year! I love the cooler weather and the excuse to pull out all of my chunky sweaters and boots.

2 – My birthday is this month, so I might be slightly biased about this being the best month out of the year. ;)

3 – I love that all the tv and movie channels start playing scary movie marathons! I’m a HUGE horror movie fan. :-D

4 – Seven of my favorite tv shows started this month! My DVR is set to record American Horror Story, 30 Rock, The League, Always Sunny In Philadelphia, The Walking Dead, Supernatural, and Dexter! 8O

5 – Last, but not least… HALLOWEEEEEN!! I always go all out with my costume for Halloween each year because it is seriously my favorite holiday. The year I went as Marie Antoinette I won a costume contest! This year my boyfriend and I are going as Finn the Human and Princess Bubblegum from Adventure time. I cannot wait! :-D

Not to mention, I love playing with Fall and Halloween themes with nail art. ^_^ This year I worked up enough courage to submit an entry for Bundle Monster’s Fright Night Halloween Nail Art Contest. Open voting begins tomorrow and I’m so nervous! I’m sure there are going to be a TON of amazing entries but at least I can say I tried, right? ;-)

EDIT: Voting is open now!! Click [HERE] to be brought to the app to vote for my entry!

NOTD: Halloween Nails – Nails and Noms Tricky Treats!

BundleMonster 2012 Contest - 4
BundleMonster 2012 Contest - 3
Okay, so the name for this set of nails is kinda lame but you try thinking of something clever while you’re in the middle of a 53 hour work week! :-P I think the name fits though since this is more on the side of fun spooky and less scary spooky. Plus the gradient background is meant to resemble candy corn! :-D
WM BundleMonster Fright Night - Nails and Noms Tricky Treats
BundleMonster 2012 Contest - 2
I started off with a white base using Milani White On The Spot, which may be my new favorite white nail polish and I need ALL the backups! :-D Then I used Dermelect Head Turner, White On The Spot and Catrice Sunny Side for my candy corn gradient. For my ring finger I used A England Camelot and layered Enchanted Polish Pumpkin Gutz over it. Loooooooove Pumpkin Gutz so much! I need more of her Halloween glitters. :-D

For my stamping I used Bundle Monster plates BM-223, BM-224, and BM-225 and these nail polishes:

- Rescue Beauty Lounge Fortissimo
- Rescue Beauty Lounge Recycle
- OPI A Roll In The Hague
- Wet n Wild Black Creme
- Milani White On The Spot
- A England Avalon
BundleMonster 2012 Contest - 5
Here’s some close-up shots of each finger for ya! Le thumb.
BundleMonster 2012 Contest - 6
Pointer finger.
BundleMonster 2012 Contest - 7
Middle finger.
BundleMonster 2012 Contest - 8
Ring finger. I got a little overzealous with my topcoat on this finger and it rippled a little in the corner as it was drying. :-P
BundleMonster 2012 Contest - 9
And my pinky. I used glitter from Enchanted Polish Pumpkin Gutz for the eyes. :-D

So what do you all think? Do I have a snowball’s chance in hell of placing for this contest? :-P

I honestly can’t wait to see what everyone else has done for the contest! You can begin voting for your favorites starting on Saturday, October 13th at the Bundle Monster Facebook Page. :-D

Review: OPI Germany Collection Fall 2012

17

OPI Germany Collection Fall 2012

Morning Everyone!

I’m here to show you swatches for the OPI Germany collection for Fall 2012! I really enjoy OPI’s regional themed collections, though I STILL need to swatch the Holland collection from this past spring. I’m a slow poke. ;) Anyway, this collection is made up of 6 creme polishes and 6 shimmers.

I used Cult Nails Get In On base coat and Wicked Fast top coat for all my swatches show here today.

Photos behind the jump! Speaking of which, do you all prefer pictures behind the cut when it’s a larger collection like this? Or would you all rather have all the photos out in the open without a photo jump?

Takko Lacquer Collection Swatches and Review

51

Takko Lacquer

Morning Everyone!

I hope you’re all having a great start to your weekend! I’m looking forward to having a nice weekend off to spend time with my friends and boyfriend. And maybe throw in some swatching and gaming. You know, the usual stuff. ;-) I’m really excited to show you a polish brand that’s entirely new to me. Sheryl, the creator of Takko Lacquer, contacted me last month and asked if I would like to swatch her new 8 polish collection. I took one look at the polishes and said hell yeah! Each color looked beautiful, shimmery, and well made. All traits that I look for in an Indie polish brand. :-D

According to Sheryl’s FAQ page on her Etsy shop, Takko (or Tako) means Octopus in Japanese. Which I love because they’re one of my favorite animals! I also like that all of her products are made with safe, top quality pigments/ingredients that she researches before she uses them in her polishes. All Takko Lacquers are also 3-free, no formaldehyde, no toluene and no DBP (Dibutyl Phthalate). And they are vegan and cruelty free!

Once I had the polishes in hand they looked even more beautiful than in pictures. Let’s get right into the swatches! I used Cult Nails Get It On base coat and China Glaze Fast Forward top coat for all of my swatches today.

Blushing Nude

Blushing Nude 1
Blushing Nude 2
Blushing Nude 3
Blushing Nude is a nude light beige with a flash of pale pink shimmer. It’s a great ‘band-aid but better’ shade, and I can see myself using this as a base for nail art in the future. I really enjoy nude polishes that have a little bit of “oomph” to them, so the hidden shimmer is a winner for me here. This is 2 coats. It’s thicker, but not horribly difficult to work with. If you’re careful you could probably get away with 1 coat here. ^_^
Blushing Nude - Flash
Here’s a shot of Blushing Nude with flash so you can get a better look at the shimmer. Me gusta. :-P

I Love Rock & Roll

I Love Rock & Roll 2
I Love Rock & Roll 1
I Love Rock & Roll 3
Sheryl describes I Love Rock & Roll as a “deep black jelly lacquer with bursts of pink shimmer and micro glitter”. The pink shimmer has a multichromatic/glass fleck quality to it that reminds me of the darker polishes in the Models Own Beetlejuice Collection. But I Love Rock & Roll is definitely not a dupe to those. I think of it as their American cousin. :-P

I used 3 coats here to reach the opacity I preferred. It’s a little on the thick side, so you want to wait a few minutes between coats or you’ll get cuticle drag. And yes, I did get the song stuck in my head. ;-)

Kaleidoscope Eyes

Kaleidoscope Eyes 1
Kaleidoscope Eyes 2
Kaleidoscope Eyes 3
This polish has my heart y’all! Kaleidoscope Eyes is a gorgeous… GORGEOUS blue/green/purple multichrome polish that’s filled with holographic shimmer! The purple was camera shy but it’s there, I promise! ;-) It reminds me of the Ozotic Mish Mash polishes and the Beatles Collection by Enchanted Polish. I really did not want to take this one off to swatch the other polishes in this collection, I loved it that much! Kaleidoscope Eyes has a thinner, easy to apply formula. I did use 3 coats here, but 2 would have been perfectly fine.
Kaleidoscope Eyes 4
You can see the holographic shimmer pretty well in this shot. It’s not in-your-face, but it’s definitely noticeable in most light settings. Another great thing about this polish is that it’s Spectraflair Free! She uses a natural mineral based pigment with holo qualities instead. There has been some concern in the polish world lately about the safety of Spectraflair in cosmetics, so it’s nice to know that Kaleidoscope Eyes can achieve the same holo glow without Spectraflair. ^_^

Kiss The Sky

Kiss The Sky 1
Kiss The Sky 2
Kiss The Sky 3
Another winner here! I posted a sneak peek shot of Kiss The Sky on Instagram and my Facebook fanpage the other night and I’m pretty sure everyone fell in love with this one too! If Max Factor Fantasy Fire and Clarins 230 had a baby, that baby would be Kiss The Sky. It’s a ‘blurple’ jelly with green/orange duo-chrome shimmer, just look at that macro shot! 8O

And this baby has a great build up, all I used here were 2 coats of Kiss The Sky! I can’t wait to try layering it over other polishes. :-D

Lemon Macaroon

Lemon Macaroon 1
Lemon Macaroon 2
Lemon Macaroon 3
Lemon Macaroon is a FABULOUS yellow jelly creme that’s filled with orange/green duo chrome shimmer. This polish is amazing! It’s so hard to find great yellows, and this one is SO so fly. Yes. I said fly. :-P

It has a great thin formula and I achieved full opacity in just 2 coats, which is a feat for any yellow polish. So basically, if you love yellow polish YOU NEED THIS. :-D

The Blue Flamingo: MIA

The Blue Flamingo - MIA 1
The Blue Flamingo - MIA 2
The Blue Flamingo - MIA 3
The Blue Flamingo: MIA is Sheryl’s tribute to Miami. Sheryl is also an artist and fashion designer in real life so she spends a lot of her time traveling back and forth from Miami and NYC (haaaay Fashion Week! :-P ). I like that she found a way to incorporate that into her polish line. ^_^

The Blue Flamingo: MIA is a sky blue jelly that’s filled with pink glass fleck shimmer. The pink is hard to capture on camera but you can see if in the macro pretty well. I used 3 coats here, and once again make sure you wait between layers to avoid cuticle drag with this one. The finish on this one is almost metallic, it’s a nice change up from the rest of the collection. :-)

The Electric Apple: NYC

The Electric Apple - NYC 1
The Electric Apple - NYC 2
The Electric Apple - NYC 3
The Electric Apple: NYC (her tribute to New York City) is another surprise hit for me. I love the combination of the cement grey creme and the golden yellow shimmer. I don’t have anything quite like this in my collection! It really has that glowing-from-within feeling that I just love in polishes. It’s a little thick, but not unmanageable. I used 2 coats here, but it has the potential to be a careful 1-coater. ♥
The Electric Apple - NYC Flash
Here’s The Electric Apple: NYC with flash. O.M.F.G. I cannot wait to wear this in the sun!

Wanderlust

Wanderlust 1
Wanderlust 2
Wanderlust 3
Last, and absolutely not least, we have Wanderlust. This wonderful polish is described by Sheryl as a ‘smokey lilac jelly creme hybrid lacquer with vibrant teal shimmer’. I couldn’t have said it any better myself. And man, Wanderlust is AMAZE-ING. I used 2 coats here, but again it could be a 1-coater if I didn’t rush it. :-P It has a thick formula, but like the others in this collection with a similar consistency it was not hard to work with.
Wanderlust - Flash
And here is Wanderlust with flash. HOW CAN YOU NOT LOVE THIS?! :-P

Final Thoughts:

I’m pretty much smitten with my Takko Lacquer polishes! I can be pretty picky about my Indie polish brands, but Sheryl and her lovely polishes have definitely won me over! If her debut collection is this unique and versatile I cannot wait to see what Takko Lacquer has to offer in the future! My top picks for this collection are Wanderlust, The Electric Apple: NYC, Kaleidoscope Eyes, Lemon Macaroon, and Kiss The Sky.

If I have one single complaint about the polish it’s that the brushes are a little tricky to work with initially. They are full length but a little soft/loose, if that makes any sense. Not loose as in ‘strands falling out’, but loose as in you get a little too much polish on the brush. It takes some getting used to, and I think it caused me to have to use 2 coats instead of 1 coat of polish on a few of these. :-P But really, I can handle a minor brush complaint when the polish is this gorgeous!

Which ones are your favorites? :-D

Purchase Info:

Takko Lacquer nail polishes can be purchased on Sheryl’s Etsy shop, http://www.etsy.com/shop/takkolacquer! They retail at $15.00 per .5 fl oz bottle of polish. And she DOES offer international shipping! Check out her shop policy page for more details on that.

They’re a little pricier than some Indies but I think that this collection is certainly worth the money. ♥

This Just In: Sheryl just let me know that she will be discounting all Takko Lacquer polishes to $12.00 per bottle to celebrate their first full review on Nails and Noms! Thank you Sheryl!! :-D I’m not sure how long this sale will last so snatch ‘em up ladies! :-P

MOAR Updates!: Holy cow did those polishes sell out fast! 8O But Sheryl stated that she plans to restock her Etsy shop on Friday, August 24th and she will extend the sale until then as well! :-D For further updates, stay tuned to Takko Lacquer’s Etsy Shop. ^_^
